The waves surged and roared, tossing and turning without rest. Chill spread in every direction, condensing into white mist that enveloped several hundred li around.

Several centuries ago, a block of mysterious ice had drifted in from nowhere and come to rest against Central Continent's eastern coast. This mysterious ice was enormous, like a small island. Its chill was biting, and many wild ice path Gu, as well as three or four kinds of cold-resistant shrubs, had gathered upon it.

After the mysterious ice was discovered, it swiftly caused a sensation at the time.

The Gu Masters living along the eastern coast all speculated about the origin of this mysterious ice.

There were two mainstream theories. The first held that since the mysterious ice had drifted from farther east, it had likely originated from the Ice Flow Sea Region of the Eastern Sea. This sea region remained frigid year-round, its cold piercing to the bone. Streams of ice flowed through the seabed like giant pythons and dragons winding their way along. Once they neared the surface, they formed enormous blocks of ice.

The second theory claimed that it had been an ice block that broke apart and fell from White Heaven. At first, it should have been even larger, like a small stretch of land. But during its descent, friction generated heat and melted it continuously. Once it fell into the seawater, the heat was extinguished, and it ultimately became this mysterious ice island. Moreover, the edges around the mysterious ice were smooth and completely devoid of angles, as though a candle had melted under heat. This was powerful evidence for that theory.
