Heavenly Dog Eats the Moon!
The three-ring Dog Soul Master suddenly dropped to all fours, mimicking a wolf's posture as he threw back his head and howled at the sky.
The pose was convincing enough, but the only difference was that what came out was not a sharp, domineering howl.
"Woof woof!"
Just two barks.
But that did not affect his movements in the slightest. He did not seem embarrassed either; perhaps he was simply used to losing face.
He launched himself straight at Lin Xiuran. Short, sharp claws emerged from the five fingers of his hand as he rapidly closed in.
Lin Xiuran had no Soul Rings, which meant he had no Soul Skills. He could only rely on the Wind Attribute enhancement brought by the Wind Bird to evade the attacks.
But this Dog Soul Master had no other strengths—except that, like a Pug, he pressed forward almost step by step. Lin Xiuran's counterattacks were far too weak. If this continued, then without the defensive Soul Tool protecting him whenever he failed to react in time, he would have long since been defeated.
Ouyang Zixin had no chance to help him either. The remaining two Soul Elders were relentlessly attacking her. Already injured, she could only use pink mist to evade them.
The Ice Bird Soul Master narrowed his eyes. A ball of blue light gathered in his hand, and then, using his superior speed, he charged fiercely toward Lin Xiuran.
Unable to dodge, Lin Xiuran could only raise the Bracer on his arm and form a shield to protect himself.
Even so, Lin Xiuran still found it extremely difficult. He could only force himself to exert strength and contend with the Ice Wheel.
But because they were locked in a stalemate, although Lin Xiuran had the shield's protection, he could not move even a single step.
That gave them their opportunity. The other four-ring Soul Ancestor came at Lin Xiuran from the flank, wielding a giant hammer.
It could be said that he had barely gotten any chance to act during this entire operation. Although his Giant Hammer Martial Soul possessed immense attack power, it also made him extremely slow.
Lin Xiuran had constantly been evading. With the Wind Element's enhancement, even this four-ring Soul Ancestor could not keep up with Lin Xiuran's Soul Power Level, much less find an opportunity to strike.
But now, the motionless Lin Xiuran gave him that opportunity. The giant hammer, nearly half his body's size, swung fiercely through the air and descended like thunder, smashing directly into the shield.
Lin Xiuran's Bracer abruptly shattered in that instant. Pieces of the Soul Tool's outer shell flew everywhere. The shield could no longer hold and vanished at once.
Seizing the chance, the Ice Bird Soul Master sent the Ice Wheel in his hand straight at Lin Xiuran's vital point without holding back in the slightest.
This time, Lin Xiuran had no way out. He had been affected by the aftershock of the giant hammer's strike, and his entire body had gone limp. Without the protection of the defensive Soul Tool, how could a two-ring Soul Grandmaster resist a pure offense-type Battle Soul Master?
Yet the pain he had expected did not come. Instead, blood splashed across Lin Xiuran's face, and then a soft figure collapsed onto him.
Ouyang Zixin!
At that critical moment, Ouyang Zixin had nearly exhausted the last of her Soul Power. She used the pink mist to temporarily hold back the two Soul Elders, then used her second Soul Skill, Divine Fox Thrust, to block the attack in front of Lin Xiuran.
A huge wound had been carved across Ouyang Zixin's back by the Ice Wheel. Her fair skin was instantly split open, blood soaking through her clothes, and she fainted on the spot.
Disbelief filled Lin Xiuran's eyes. He had seemingly never expected Ouyang Zixin to do such a thing, but reality gave him no time to think further.
Seeing that his strike had failed, how could the Ice Bird Soul Master stop? Blue light condensed in his hand, and an Ice Spike formed from frost shot instantly toward Lin Xiuran's chest.
Lin Xiuran instinctively raised his wrist to block it. Although the Bracer could no longer produce a shield, its material was still exceptionally hard.
The Ice Spike, formed solely from the Ice Element, shattered at its tip upon colliding with such tremendous force and lost its lethality.
Lin Xiuran felt his wrist go numb from the impact. The sensation shot straight to the top of his head, nearly making him pass out.
The Ice Bird Soul Master narrowed his eyes and kicked Lin Xiuran away, sending him crashing into a nearby tree.
The force was so great that the entire tree shook, leaves fluttering down and covering Lin Xiuran.
But at that moment, he no longer even had the strength to brush the leaves from his body. He could not even raise a hand.
The spot on his chest where he had been kicked throbbed with swelling pain, as though several ribs had cracked.
Fine sweat covered Lin Xiuran's forehead, blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, and even when he inhaled, it felt as though less air was coming in than going out.
The Ice Bird Soul Master kicked Ouyang Zixin, who lay on the ground before him, aside once more. Then he slowly approached Lin Xiuran with the other four.
He was furious. He had not expected a two-ring Soul Grandmaster to hold them off for so long and force them to expend so much effort. Once they returned, the family head would probably scold them.
He first removed Lin Xiuran's Bracer and tossed it beneath the Giant Hammer Soul Master.
"Let's see if this thing can still protect you now."
The moment his words fell, the Giant Hammer Soul Master smashed his huge hammer down. No matter how hard the Bracer was, it was reduced to tiny fragments.
The Ice Bird Soul Master glanced at Lin Xiuran disdainfully and said coldly, "Now, it's your turn."
The Giant Hammer Soul Master also came before Lin Xiuran with his hammer raised. Rubbing his fists together, he lifted the giant hammer, clearly preparing to put all his strength into a single strike.
The Ice Bird Soul Master sneered. "Tell me, after this hammer falls, will you become a meat patty or a pile of minced meat?"
But Lin Xiuran no longer had the strength to speak. He was no longer afraid of death, because his consciousness had nearly faded away.
The Giant Hammer Soul Master gave a foolish grin. "Second Young Master, I'll hit harder. I'll make sure you die right away and spare you any unnecessary pain."
The next moment, he gathered all his strength and swung the giant hammer down from his shoulder, smashing it straight toward Lin Xiuran.
But just as the giant hammer was about to strike Lin Xiuran, another change occurred.
A strange force instantly froze all five people present in place.
Dazzling purple light erupted from Lin Xiuran's body. Then the purple light separated from him and slowly descended outside.
The purple glow quickly condensed into the shape of a woman. Her silver hair cascaded over her shoulders like a waterfall, while mysterious light flickered within her violet eyes, as though they could see through people's hearts. She wore a white dress, simple and elegant without losing its grace. Her skin was as fair as snow, delicate and smooth like porcelain.
It seemed as though endless stories and secrets were hidden within her. Her deep, distant gaze seemed capable of crossing through time and space to see both the past and the future.
If Lin Xiuran were awake now, even if he had never seen her before, he would certainly recognize her.
She was the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yuena!
This book will be going premium soon, and I hope everyone can support it then. Free Recommendation Tickets will be enough. As long as this book's performance is not especially terrible, I'll write several more tens of thousands of words after it goes premium, and once it has a certain foundation, I'll begin updating three times a day.
Xiaofan likes planting foreshadowing, so many questions will be answered later. As for the female lead, I really cannot say for sure. Even if there is one, I probably will not write much sweet romance. I am just not very good at it.
Part of the reason I dropped my previous book was that its results were too poor. Of course, another reason was that my own skill level did not support writing a story with multiple arcs. My abilities were not quite enough, and I still need to improve.
Finally, happy 520, everyone—except single dogs like Xiaofan. Please spare me.
