Background / History
Su Yu is the daughter of entrepreneur Su Tong. Her parents’ marriage collapsed after she learned that her father had an illegitimate son, Su Hao; following the divorce, Su Tong married Su Hao’s mother and brought them into the family home. Su Yu felt excluded from the new household, where her stepmother mistreated her in private and Su Hao regarded her as a threat to his inheritance. 210
She later went to the United States to live with and study near her mother, but found herself similarly isolated when her mother prioritized her new husband and younger son. From the age of eighteen onward, Su Yu spent birthdays alone, buying herself a cake and trying to reassure herself that she was happy before breaking down in tears. 210
After returning to China, she founded and successfully managed Ju Li Capital. Her father later announced that headquarters would send a management team to intervene in the company, a decision Su Yu saw as an attempt to take control away from her and hand it to Su Hao. 197
Appearance
Su Yu is a tall, refined beauty whose public image is that of an aloof and elegant executive. Her appearance is repeatedly compared favorably with Qin Baobao’s, though Su Yu’s appeal is described as pure and otherworldly rather than seductive. 161 334

Personality

She is independent and unwilling to be used by her family. On her birthday, she refuses her father and stepmother’s demand that she invest in Su Hao’s failing business, choosing to leave rather than submit to their pressure. 266
In private, Su Yu is markedly more playful and emotionally expressive. She enjoys arguing online, gaming, teasing Qin Ze, and acting spoiled around people she trusts. 165 227 428
