This was the day with the lightest snowfall since they had entered the Ice Ruin Rift. Visibility stretched much farther, as though heaven and earth had suddenly opened up, lifting their spirits considerably.
Layer upon layer of snowy peaks spread and overlapped endlessly before their eyes. Yet from this angle, it was hard not to feel disheartened, as though they would never walk out of this world of ice and snow. But on second thought, this Void Rift was itself the Ice Ruin Rift. What did it matter whether they could walk out or not?
They traveled north all morning, crossing five snow mountains and covering no fewer than thirty li, yet they still found no trace of a Snow Spirit Antelope.
By dusk, they had searched over fifty li and crossed twelve snow mountains. Ninth Mistress pointed at a cliff face ahead. "I haven't gone any farther than this."
Liu Xiaolou swept his gaze over the surrounding peaks. "There probably aren't any in these places. We need to look for steep snow mountains with cliffs." He turned back and looked at the snow leopard following beside the Soul Leopard. Once again, he mimicked the Snow Spirit Antelope Ninth Mistress had described—stomping his feet, spreading his hands like horns, and gnawing at the snow-covered ground—doing his utmost to convey his urgency and get the snow leopard to help find traces of the Snow Spirit Antelope.
The snow leopard tilted its head at Liu Xiaolou and watched curiously for a moment before losing interest. It resumed circling the Soul Leopard, rubbing necks, pressing against its body, and sniffing its tail. Liu Xiaolou was deeply disappointed and helpless. "What's wrong with it?"
Ninth Mistress pursed her lips in a smile. "I told you already. The more intelligent a spirit beast is, the
