"First-kind encounters meant sightings—seeing something from afar. Second-kind encounters meant coming into contact with fragments, wreckage, or traces left behind by extraterrestrial civilizations. Third-kind encounters meant directly contacting extraterrestrial civilizations.
"But now, I think we should expand that and add a fourth kind of encounter.
"This fourth kind means coming into contact with a civilization or existence that cannot be understood."
The former Elf Empress, Liliyat Chu, leaned against Chu Fei's shoulder and quietly watched the distant "starry sky." Her tone was equally calm. "Your Yanhuang Civilization truly is different. The Elf Race has encountered countless civilizations, races, cultivation systems, and so on, yet yours is the most unique."
Chu Fei looked into the distance and let out a soft sigh. "That so-called uniqueness was nothing more than something we were forced into. If one's living environment were good enough, who would want to leave their comfort zone?"
Liliyat thought for a moment and nodded slightly, unable to help thinking of the Elf Race. The Elf Race was exactly like this. Though the elves here were highly warlike now, they had been forced into becoming so, because those who were not warlike had all died.
Much of the time, a civilization found it truly difficult to choose its own path of development. Looking back at the development of Yanhuang Civilization, it had been the same. Had there been no foreign enemies to shatter it, Yanhuang Civilization might have continued cycling through feudal systems until it perished completely.
