In the Evernight Zone, Chu Fei looked up at the distant sky, feeling a faint sense of anticipation. He had been in this world for so long, yet had never actually visited the Evernight Zone.
One flying car after another streaked across the sky. Behind them, the sun gradually "set," the "morning sun or evening sun" slowly disappearing behind towering skyscrapers as the sky took on a dark crimson hue.
Although Arctic City had been built along the Terminator Line, it lay entirely within the Perpetual Day Zone. Farther behind, in the dimmer regions dominated by heavy industrial factories, air pollution had begun to grow severe.
As the flying cars continued onward, the sky gradually darkened to a murky red. Clouds became noticeably more numerous, and the heavens themselves seemed to press lower.
The sun was no longer visible. Only the "evening glow" colored the sky, but heavy industry pollution had turned heaven and earth into an ugly, dingy red that was difficult to describe.
The temperature had fallen to around five or six degrees. An occasional gust of wind cut to the bone, and the moisture in the air had clearly increased.
There was almost no vegetation here anymore. The land had begun to turn desolate, with specks of murky snow crystals flowing through the wind like a pale gray veil draped over the earth.
They continued forward. The temperature kept falling, ice crystals appeared in the air, and the land was completely swallowed by darkness. Only the sky retained a faint glow.
Then even that glow vanished. Above and below, all was pitch-black. Sparse starlight dotted the sky, while the satellite Water Moon Star was nowhere to be seen, apparently having wandered off somewhere.
