Some washed up, some put out the campfires that had burned all night, some cooked, while others contacted the higher-ups of their families. For a time, every corner of the camp was filled with noise and bustle.
Having stood watch all night, the patrolling personnel returned to their tents one after another with yawns to rest. Those who had not been assigned night patrol prepared to assemble, then headed into the Giant Beast Forest in groups to carry out their duties.
As Wu Yan emerged from the only passage before the lake surrounded by mountains on three sides, the first thing he saw was Misaka Sisters in goggles darting back and forth through the woods of tents. It was a lively sight. Like the camp personnel, they were preparing to wash up, cook, and form teams to enter the Giant Beast Forest for hunting, busy beyond measure.
Watching the Sisters, all with identical faces and figures, bustle about, Wu Yan felt a slight stir in his heart.
He remembered that, back then, the Misaka Sisters had been clones who learned even common daily knowledge through learning devices. Though they possessed their own consciousness, there had always been a lack of vitality in their actions. It had felt strange to see them that way, and rather pitiful.
