Not far from Hakurei Shrine, a figure was flying through the air at an unhurried pace toward the shrine.
Rather than saying a figure was flying toward Hakurei Shrine, though, it would be more accurate to say that a figure riding a broomstick like a witch was flying toward the shrine with the aid of that broom.
The one riding the broom was a girl dressed as a witch, though her appearance seemed rather out of place.
Her long, slightly curly golden hair reached her waist and fluttered in the wind. A braid hung down before her on one side of her bangs, decorated with a bow that swayed along with her flowing hair.
The girl wore a standard black witch's outfit, but had a white half-apron over it. On her head sat a large black pointed witch's hat, also adorned with a large white bow.
In every respect, she was a girl who resembled Reimu Hakurei.
If one had to explain exactly how, then apart from her hair, Reimu Hakurei was dressed entirely in red and white, while this girl was dressed entirely in black and white.
In fact, that was what people called her.

Her real name—Marisa Kirisame!
