It was a mountain inhabited by many ancient youkai and gods!
On this mountain, the youkai and gods had jointly established a cultural society unlike that of other humans and youkai. They were highly united, and whenever outsiders came, they would reject and drive them away.
Near the foot of Youkai Mountain was a lake perpetually shrouded in dense mist.

It was a mysterious lake that easily attracted fairies and youkai, especially in summer, when youkai often came to drink from it. For some reason, the mist only appeared during the day!
Since Mist Lake was blanketed in mist year-round, visibility was poor, making it easy for people to think the lake was enormous. In truth, despite the fog reducing visibility, it took less than an hour to circle the entire lake.
And Scarlet Devil Mansion stood at the edge of Mist Lake!
Upon approaching Mist Lake, one could easily spot a vast Western-style mansion here.

Since Scarlet Devil Mansion had been transported directly from the outside world, its position at the edge of Mist Lake made it look exceptionally out of place against the surrounding scenery.
Still, Scarlet Devil Mansion truly was a very luxurious Western-style mansion.
From the outside, the first thing people saw was a wall like a castle rampart, covered in green vines and branches. In the middle of the wall stood an iron gate. Beyond it was a broad courtyard, and at the far end of the courtyard stood the residence itself.
