Patchouli and Alice, who had thought Wu Yan was about to do something improper, froze for a moment. Following his gaze, they looked ahead—and then both girls saw it.
In the middle of the bamboo forest ahead, a small black figure hopped out from behind a bamboo stalk. It moved incredibly fast, landing on the ground after a few leaps. Straightening up, something atop its head twitched a few times, and its scarlet eyes swept over the surroundings.
It was a black figure not much different in size from a cat.
Its entire body was snow-white and covered in fur. It had a pair of enormous long ears, only half as small as its body, sharp front teeth, and scarlet eyes. Yet there was no ferocity in those eyes—only a gentle softness that made it look unexpectedly docile.
The black figure was, astonishingly, a rabbit!

Eientei was a mysterious place located within the Bamboo Forest of the Lost.
It was called mysterious because not only did people live in Eientei, but a large number of rabbit youkai lived there as well. Some were even rabbit youkai in human form.
Since this rabbit had appeared in the Bamboo Forest of the Lost, it had to be a rabbit youkai from Eientei. However, its cultivation had not yet reached the point where it could take human form, so it could only move like an ordinary rabbit.
