Ordinarily, for an incident that could easily cause panic, the higher-ups should have done everything they could to conceal it, lest the garrison personnel become unsettled and affect the important strategy concerning the Giant Beast Forest. Yet Peros did the exact opposite. Not only did he refrain from suppressing the news, he even publicized it extensively!
The result was naturally just as expected: panic broke out. But the panic was only temporary. After exaggerating and spreading the matter, Peros immediately made a declaration that he would definitely get to the bottom of it!
Perhaps Peros's reputation had taken effect, or perhaps his unconventional approach had produced unexpectedly good results. After a brief period of panic, the garrison personnel actually settled down and began voicing their support for Peros. For a time, Peros's prestige throughout the camp reached unprecedented heights!
It seemed that all of this had been within Peros's expectations. After announcing his intention to investigate under everyone's support, Peros immediately issued another strict order. Since the missing personnel had all gone to sleep at night and been discovered missing the next day, Peros ordered all lower-ranking personnel not to go out at night. Even if they did go out, they had to stay with others. The night patrols, meanwhile, were expanded and their vigilance strengthened.
