After a whole day of commotion, every member of the camp's garrison seemed exhausted. One after another, they had gone to sleep early, and by now, they were all fast asleep...
Faint firelight dotted the camp beneath the pitch-black night sky. It came from the burning bonfires. Throughout the forest of tents, a bonfire burned slowly at every interval, keeping the area from becoming too dark. Night patrols passed one bonfire after another, but like the garrison personnel already asleep, they seemed drained after the day's events. Even while standing watch, they could not conceal their fatigue, yawning repeatedly and looking listless...
For a time, the camp's defenses slackened under such circumstances...
At the deepest hour of the night, outside a large tent in the center of the camp, a gentle breeze drifted over and enveloped the area. At almost the same moment, a blurry figure shot out of the tent at incredible speed, flashing into a dark corner untouched by the bonfire's light in an instant.
The nearby patrolmen only felt a gust of wind brush past their cheeks before continuing their rounds without noticing anything. They had no idea that, in the darkness beside them, a pair of icy eyes was sweeping over the surroundings and observing the situation... Concealed by the night, the figure repeatedly flickered through the blind spots of the patrol teams. Whenever he stopped, he happened to be in places beyond the bonfires' reach and where the patrols had passed just a second earlier. He hid himself extremely well.
Judging by his performance, even if he had not received professional stealth training, he had certainly done plenty of sneaking around!
