The Fall of Giant Stone City

Six wizard apprentices clad in gray robes finally appeared atop the city walls. These six wandering wizard apprentices were the ones Viscount Helu had gone to great lengths to recruit.

On the Durando Subcontinent, wizards wielded immense power and wealth. Formal wizards were recruited by powerful wizard organizations. Nobles rarely managed to recruit formal wizards. Only great nobles within powerful empires had any chance of recruiting one.

"Oily Art!"

A wizard apprentice pointed at a mechanical swordsman and cast a Level-0 Trick.

The mechanical swordsman's feet slipped, and it crashed straight to the ground.

Several heavy alchemy ballistas locked onto the mechanical swordsman. Three terrifying heavy bolts struck it in an instant, blasting it into countless metal fragments.

"Arcane Missile!"

A wizard apprentice pointed at another mechanical swordsman, and an Arcane Missile shot toward it like a bullet.

The Arcane Missile slammed into the mechanical swordsman's chest, knocking it back several steps and leaving a slight dent in its chest.

But the mechanical swordsman merely swayed and charged onward without any effect.

A single Level-0 Trick, Arcane Missile, could severely injure a Knight-level expert, but it did little damage to robots such as mechanical swordsmen. In contrast, the slashes of Knight-level experts posed a far greater threat to mechanical swordsmen.

"Acid Splash!"

A wizard apprentice pointed, and a stream of acid sprayed directly onto a mechanical swordsman.

As though a basin of concentrated sulfuric acid had been poured over it, white vapor rose from the mechanical swordsman's body as the acid corroded it into a pitted mess. An ordinary human's upper body would have been corroded away by such acid, leaving them writhing in pain and unable to fight, yet the mechanical swordsman showed no reaction at all and continued charging.

Only after four Acid Splashes struck the mechanical swordsman in succession was its head completely corroded away, causing it to collapse to the ground, unable to move.

There were simply too few of the six wizard apprentices. Although they worked together to bring down seven mechanical swordsmen, the mechanical swordsmen still charged directly beneath the fortress walls.

As soon as a mechanical swordsman reached the base of the fortress, it sheathed its Alloy Battle Blade on its back and raised both hands. Another mechanical swordsman jumped directly onto its palms and raised both hands as well. One mechanical swordsman after another repeated this action, swiftly forming six human ladders.

The mechanical swordsmen nimbly leaped up the six human ladders, jumping toward the top of the fortress walls.

"Arcane Missile!"

The six wizard apprentices could only cast this Level-0 Trick, relying on the powerful knockback force of Arcane Missile to knock the mechanical swordsmen out of the air.

But the mechanical swordsmen were absurdly agile. After the first wave was driven back, the second wave jumped straight onto the city walls, swinging their Alloy Battle Blades viciously at the Giant Stone Fortress warriors on the walls.

"Die!!" A knight clad head to toe in heavy knight armor and wielding a greatsword roared furiously. Exploding with powerful Life Energy, he launched a sneak attack from the side and slashed at a mechanical swordsman's head, sending it flying.

Before the heavily armored knight could even catch his breath, six mechanical swordsmen pounced on him. Twelve enormous Alloy Battle Blades slashed viciously toward him from six directions.

The knight's martial skills were formidable, but he blocked only two Alloy Battle Blades before the rest chopped him into pieces.

There were thirteen Knight-level experts on the city walls. Besieged by the large number of mechanical swordsmen, the thirteen Knight-level experts were soon hacked into pieces. Even with the wizard apprentices supporting them from behind, those Knight-level experts could not withstand the mechanical swordsmen's suicidal fighting style.

After all thirteen Knight-level experts died in battle, the morale of the warriors on the walls completely collapsed. They scattered in every direction or dropped to their knees and begged for mercy.

Before the six wizard apprentices could flee, the swordsmen surrounded them and chopped them into pieces, preserving only their heads.

"Anyone who throws down their weapons and kneels to surrender will be spared!"

Large amounts of land fell under Yang Feng's control. In each town, large numbers of Engineering Robots were sent out to build Solar Energy Absorption Umbrellas and military factories.

After Yang Feng gained control of Giant Stone City's entire sphere of influence, the land under his command became more than a hundred times larger than before. The area around Giant Stone City was rich in mineral resources. Once the basic facilities were completed, the number of combat robots he could produce each day would be more than fifty times what it had been before.

Moreover, the construction of large numbers of Solar Energy Absorption Umbrellas meant Yang Feng no longer lacked energy. He could gradually phase out Level-4 combat robots and mass-produce Level-6 and Level-7 combat robots.
