Threads of red light spread from the Golden Demon Monster statue, as though it had suddenly come alive. It opened its mouth and swallowed the still-beating heart in one bite.
A hint of satisfaction appeared on the human face of the three-headed demon monster's golden statue. Two blood-scented red beams shot from its eyes, enveloping Greem.
Bathed in the red light, Greem's body trembled. Supreme bliss appeared in his eyes, while threads of powerful energy radiated from his aged body. The wrinkles and age spots on his face also diminished somewhat.
Giles watched this scene, jealousy and envy flashing through his eyes. As far as he knew, Greem had already lived for nearly two hundred years. Aside from Warlocks, this was the first time Giles had seen someone who had lived so long. Tempted by that long lifespan and immense power, he too had chosen to worship this powerful being from a Different Plane.
