That thought flashed through the Black Phoenix Demoness's mind, grief and fury tangling together, yet it could not change the outcome. In the world of immortal cultivation, when all was said and done, what one fought with was still strength.
Almost in that very instant.
A brilliant sword light flashed behind her, blood sprayed out, and the Black Phoenix Demoness's head had already been taken.
But the woman did not fall.
A phoenix cry rang in the ears, and with a flash of black light, a Phoenix about a foot long entered view.
This was something transformed from her Demon Core, much like the effect of a cultivator's Nascent Soul. However, when a member of the Demon Race had her physical body destroyed, it was far more troublesome than for a cultivator; if she wanted to seize another body and start over, who knew how many twists and turns she would have to suffer in between.
Yet it was still too early to consider that now. The urgent matter was to find a way to escape with her life.
The Phoenix spread both wings, and the nearby void began to ripple along with it.
A crack appeared.
Clearly, the woman had used some spatial secret art.
Yet just then, the scene she feared most appeared.
The originally dim sky once again turned a ghastly white, and that mysterious light formation emerged in the void.
"No..."
Having just witnessed the bald big man's fall with her own eyes, the Black Phoenix Demoness was so frightened her whole body trembled, and even her phoenix cry became piercing as she desperately tried to escape.
Yet it was useless. Silver light flowed within that light formation, and a wisp of Azure Glow like moonlight flew out.
