Gwen's Invitation (Seeking Reads, Seeking Collections)

The little incident in class didn't have much impact.

It just made the other students feel that the once timid and cowardly Peter Parker seemed to have changed after the break.

Peter closed his eyes again and continued watching the "movie" in his mind.

That's right, when he focused, the sounds gathered in his mind through Super Hearing formed a panoramic picture as if he were on the scene.

It was safe to say it was far more advanced than any satellite radar.

"Humanity is utterly defeated. What a pity..."

"Watching" the massive Hulk suddenly accelerate (Charging Rush) and use his shoulder to flip over several tanks.

After that, he grabbed the cannon barrel, used the whole turret as a hammer, and overturned all the surrounding tanks in a few swings.

Even Peter couldn't help but feel the Hulk's violence and brutality.

The human army seemed utterly powerless before him.

An entire tank formation, dozens of tanks, was "easily" overturned by him.

The terrifying strength and intense sense of violence hit you head-on, making you marvel and get lost in it.

Even with Peter's current strength, he could do the same, and even more easily.

But Peter admitted he could never achieve the aesthetic of violence that the Hulk displayed just by looking at him.

"Violence is only a temporary beauty, but elegance is eternal!"

Watching the Hulk sweep through the ground forces in minutes, and after tossing over a dozen tanks, he finally smashed two attack helicopters.

Then he sprinted toward New York City.

The fighter jets behind him gave relentless chase, and the few remaining missiles roared toward the running Hulk.

Boom boom boom!

Most of the missiles the Hulk dodged, exploding into dazzling flames on the ground.

But one missile still managed to rush right behind the Hulk, about to hit his body.

Yet the Hulk seemed to have anticipated it, suddenly sidestepping, then grabbing the missile flying parallel to him.

He spun his body 180 degrees and hurled the missile straight back at the fighter jet chasing him in the sky.

Boom!

The jet crashed down.

The Hulk, aided by his incredible jumping ability, leaped hundreds of meters, each jump covering several miles, gradually escaping the human army's pursuit.

He finally disappeared into a forest.

Seeing the chase come to an end, Peter stopped his Super Hearing.

"Dr. Banner is also a genius scientist, but unfortunately, the current situation isn't suitable for recruiting him into my Science Team."

When he kidnapped scientists from all over the world last time, Peter had considered Bruce Banner.

But unfortunately, he had already been exposed to Gamma Rays in a lab accident and turned into the Hulk.

For the safety of Tony and the others, Peter naturally had to give up the idea of kidnapping Dr. Banner.

In fact, there were quite a few people Peter had passed on.

Like Ant-Man Dr. Pym, and Victor Von Doom, known as God Emperor Doom...

The morning classes ended quickly.

At noon, Peter went to the school cafeteria alone, queued up for his meal, and found a secluded spot in the sun to eat leisurely.

"Do you mind if I sit here, Peter Parker?"

Peter had just sat down when he suddenly heard a pleasant female voice beside him. Though it was a question, she sat down across from him without waiting for his agreement.

"Go ahead, Gwen Stacy."

Without even looking, Peter knew the person sitting across from him was Spider-Woman Gwen.

"If I told her now that the Venom Spider who was chasing her a few days ago was me, would she just leave without a word?"

Peter thought with some mischievous amusement.

"Forget it, I can't guarantee she'd leave, but she'd definitely throw her tray at my head without hesitation."

Though Peter wouldn't let her succeed.

"I heard you sent Flash to the infirmary today?"

Gwen, sitting across from Peter, wasn't eating. Instead, she stirred the mashed potatoes on her plate with a spoon while staring at Peter with undisguised curiosity.

"No, he started it, and then he accidentally hurt himself."

Being stared at so openly by the school beauty, the dream girl of almost every male student in the school, known for her beauty...

If it were the cowardly Peter from before, he would probably be stammering with his head down and face red by now.

However, this Peter was leisurely eating his meal while calmly replying without any rush.

"You really have changed."

The motion of stirring the mashed potatoes suddenly stopped, and the expression on Gwen's face turned serious as she stared intently at the still-composed Peter, as if trying to see through him.

"Everyone changes. I think I'm pretty good now. What do you think?"

Slowly pausing his eating, Peter met Gwen's gaze without flinching.

"Yeah, I think... it's not bad."

Pressed by Peter's unyielding stare, Gwen, the Spider-Woman who fought crime and upheld justice, found herself feeling inexplicably shy. She unconsciously lowered her head and resumed stirring the mashed potatoes with her spoon.

"Peter, ever since my family moved away from yours when we were kids, it feels like we haven't talked face-to-face like this in a long time."

After stirring the mashed potatoes in her plate for a while, Gwen finally scooped up a spoonful and slowly brought it to her mouth.

She seemed to hesitate for a moment before speaking again.

"Yeah, I guess so."

Peter continued eating with his head down. As someone who had just transmigrated here, he had no say in these matters.

All he knew was that, from the memories he had inherited, the Gwen in front of him had indeed been his childhood sweetheart.

Unfortunately, when he was ten, Gwen's father was promoted from an ordinary officer to deputy sheriff, so they moved to a safer upscale apartment in the wealthy district.

After that, they almost never kept in touch.

It wasn't until middle school that they met again.

By then, Gwen had grown into a beautiful and confident girl, instantly becoming the school's most popular girl.

"School just started today, so we have the afternoon free."

"If I remember correctly, you're interning at Oscorp right now."

Peter also looked up and confirmed.

"I hope I don't end up getting escorted to the police station by security again like last time."
