"Midgard, I'm back!"
Thor, the Thunder God, clad in armor and holding Mjolnir, slowly emerged from the rainbow-colored pillar of light, revealing his powerful figure.
"I'd like to see what this new god Heimdall praised so highly is truly capable of."
At this point, Thor had yet to experience any setbacks.
His arrogant and warlike nature had prompted him to come to Earth without hesitation after hearing Heimdall praise a human so highly, intending to challenge that person.
Even though Heimdall had tried his utmost to stop him, and even though his father had issued an edict centuries ago forbidding anyone from traveling to Earth at will.
"Don't worry, Father, Heimdall. I will personally claim victory and use this unquestionable triumph to completely establish my right to inherit Asgard's throne today."
More importantly, today was the crucial day when Thor was to inherit Asgard's future throne.
"Hey, you guy who likes playing the Thunder God, put down that... hammer!"
Though the Thunder God's entrance looked incredibly flashy and far from ordinary, as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury could not possibly be so easily intimidated.
He signaled Coulson beside him to evacuate the surrounding civilians while speaking to Thor.
"A hammer? Ignorant human, this is Mjolnir, the supreme divine artifact bestowed upon me by my father. It represents Asgard's highest glory, was forged by the Dwarf King from the core of a dying star, and can summon thunder itself."
"You actually called it an ordinary hammer?"
"And I am Thor, the Thunder God, from Asgard. I am not playing anyone."
Upon hearing Nick Fury's words, Thor looked as though he himself had been insulted and hurriedly defended both himself and the hammer in his hand.
Bzzzt...
At the same time, Mjolnir seemed to have sensed the insult as well, instantly bursting with brilliant silver arcs of electricity in his hand.
"Fine, fine. If you say you are, then you are. But now, please calm down, put it down, and submit to our inspection."
As dazzling electrical light flashed across Mjolnir, every S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, including Nick Fury, instantly drew their guns and aimed them at Thor.
Nick Fury's expression turned exceedingly grave.
"What are those people doing?"
Yet even at such a tense standoff, some bystanders who loved watching trouble gathered outside the S.H.I.E.L.D. perimeter and peered inside.
"Looks like they're filming a movie. I just caught a glimpse—the special effects are seriously good. They didn't even use a green screen."
A tall young man who seemed to have seen the earlier scene wore an expression of intense curiosity and surprise.
"I saw it too. The hammer that armored actor was holding actually shot electricity. How did they do that? Tesla coils?"
Another young man chimed in.
"Asgardian warriors never put down their weapons until death!"
"Move aside. I still have to find that guy called Superman and challenge him to a duel. If I'm late, I'll miss my coronation ceremony!"
As he spoke to Nick Fury and the others surrounding him, Thor prepared to leave with his hammer and challenge Superman.
"Stop! Put down your weapon immediately, or we will open fire!"
Naturally, Nick Fury would not simply let this mysterious man leave.
After all, no one knew what sort of chaos he might bring to Earth.
"A bunch of annoying fools!"
Being surrounded by a crowd that would not let him leave, while being threatened with strange contraptions pointed at him, made Thor instantly furious.
The next moment, he raised Mjolnir in his hand.
A thick mass of dark clouds instantly gathered in the sky, nearly blanketing the entire land.
Thunder raged and lightning coiled within the clouds, as though a terrifying apocalypse had arrived.
"Thunder! Hurry home and bring in the laundry!"
Some clever people nearby who sensed danger had already fled the area at top speed.
Crack!
A silver-white bolt of lightning crashed down from the cloud-covered sky, striking directly upon the Mjolnir Thor held aloft.
In an instant, powerful lightning wrapped around Thor's body. Combined with his magnificent silver armor, a terrifying aura swept outward in every direction.
It was as though the true God of Thunder had descended into the mortal world, inspiring an irresistible urge to worship him.
"These annoying fools should run away now, right?"
Whenever Thor had come to Earth before, this move had never failed him. Anyone who saw him like this either instantly dropped to their knees and worshipped him as a god, or ran away without a trace.
However, he did not know that after several centuries, Earth's technology had already grown powerful, and atheism had swept across the world.
Even an alien would be captured and thoroughly studied.
What was more, everyone present was an elite S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
Even amid the raging, dazzling lightning, which made everyone's scalps tingle as though their hair were being yanked hard.
Well... Nick Fury did not have that particular sensation.
But not a single one of them fled or even took a step back.
Nick Fury also knew that they were facing a grave crisis. The next moment, he gave the order to attack without hesitation.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Countless bullets burst from the gun barrels. The elite agents' marksmanship was nearly flawless, and at such close range, there was almost no chance of missing.
Clang! Clang! Clang...
Yet when countless bullets struck Thor, it was as though they had hit steel, spraying innumerable sparks.
"A bunch of damned fools."
He had only intended to frighten them away with the bearing of the Thunder God, yet he had received a fierce attack in return.
He had no idea what weapons they held, but a group of insignificant mortals had actually made Thor, the Thunder God, feel a trace of pain.
At that moment, he could no longer endure it.
He did not wish to easily harm Earth's mortals, but neither was he an idiot who would not fight back after being attacked.
Well... whether he was an idiot remained debatable.
"For the glory of Asgard!"
With the dignity of the Thunder God trampled so thoroughly by these mortals, Thor threw back his head and roared. The next moment, even more violent lightning burst from the dark clouds overhead.
Then Thor pointed Mjolnir, wreathed in lightning, directly at the black bald man.
As a battle-hardened warrior, Thor naturally understood the principle of capturing the leader first.
In an instant, a dazzling silver bolt of lightning shot fiercely toward Nick Fury.
Its terrifying force and incredible speed left even Nick Fury, the director, completely unable to react in time.
Just as the silver lightning was about to strike him and turn his already dark skin even blacker than charcoal—
A figure suddenly appeared behind him at a speed beyond anything an ordinary person could achieve.
He directly tackled Nick Fury to the ground, and the brilliant bolt of lightning passed almost right across Nick Fury's scalp.
Making him, who had not felt much earlier, suddenly experience an even stronger scalp-tingling sensation than everyone else.
Boom!
The silver lightning they had dodged struck a bulletproof car behind them, instantly setting off a violent explosion.
Yet neither of them had time to worry about whether anyone had been injured in the blast.
"This time, fortune will no longer favor you!"
Because that lightning-wreathed man had once again aimed his hammer at them as they lay on the ground. Brilliant electricity continued gathering upon it, about to shoot forth again.
"Captain, catch!"
At that critical moment, a voice suddenly came from nearby.
Then came the sound of something slicing through the air. Coulson, who had returned, threw out a Circular Shield.
It traced a beautiful arc through the air.
The next moment, a figure rolled twice across the ground, then sprang up and caught the spinning shield in midair, instantly placing it in the path of the incoming lightning!
After seventy years, Captain America appeared once more!
