Chapter 9: The Bus Stopping on the Eighth Floor... (Plea for Collections, Plea for Follows)
Gwen had no time to keep marveling at how this thing called Venom possessed such terrifying power.
Her Spider-Sense instantly flared to life again.
"Damn, no time."
But the opponent's speed was too fast—even with her Spider-Sense, Gwen couldn't dodge his attack in advance.
She could only rely on instinct, crossing her arms in front of her chest to cushion the blow.
Boom!
The next moment, Gwen felt as if she had been hit head-on by a train.
Even as strong as Spider-Gwen, she was sent flying in an instant.
Peter, showing no mercy or chivalry, suddenly erupted with terrifying strength. After punching Gwen away, he couldn't help mimicking a classic villain's laugh: "Heh heh heh..."
"Damn, who invented this unique villain laugh? It sounds awful..."
But the next moment, disgusted by himself, Peter hastily stopped that deranged grin.
Bang!
Then, with a sudden burst of force from his legs, he shot forward like a cannonball, chasing after the airborne Gwen.
"Hey, is... is this the police station? I... I want to report a crime."
"Two Spider-Men are fighting! What? I'm not making a false report—I saw it with my own eyes."
As Peter vanished into the alley, the woman who had just been mugged by thugs finally staggered to her feet, trembling as she pulled out her phone and dialed the police.
She had been too terrified to make a sound just now.
Afraid that the guy with the creepiest laugh imaginable might notice her.
Boom!
On the street separating the residential areas of the common folk and the wealthy, a figure flew backward out of an alley at breakneck speed.
It didn't stop until it slammed into an office building dozens of meters away on the roadside.
Yet the immense impact force carved a massive crater into the building's wall.
"Sss, that hurts."
As a delicate girl, Gwen had never suffered such serious injuries in her life.
Who would have thought that after becoming Spider-Woman, gaining strength beyond ordinary people, she would be hurt this badly for the first time?
"Damn, he's coming again."
Barely enduring the searing pain, she pried herself out of the wall where she had been embedded.
But before she could catch her breath, she saw that familiar figure charging out of the alley once more.
And his target was her.
This time, prepared, Gwen relied on her agile body to roll a few times awkwardly along the wall, barely dodging the center of his attack.
Boom!
The next moment, Peter's devastating blow struck the spot where she had just been.
A thunderous roar erupted, like a missile impact.
Under the explosive force, the entire office building shook violently, as if hit by an earthquake.
The central wall had shattered, cracks spreading outward like a spiderweb.
At the same time, a massive invisible shockwave swept through, shattering nearly every pane of glass on that wall.
Gwen, caught near the blast, was flung like a tossed sack, sent flying dozens of meters away.
Just as she was about to crash heavily onto the street, a web shot from her wrist, gradually halting her fall.
With the momentum of the impact, she swung through the air like a pendulum, arcing into the distance.
"Heh, you're not the only one who can use webs."
Seeing Gwen trying to flee, Peter didn't give up the chase. A web shot from his own Web-Shooter.
Then, just like Gwen, he used the web's tension to swing between the city's high-rises.
After first transmigrating into this world, Peter had made some preparations for becoming Spider-Man.
Including this Spider-Suit and the Web-Shooter.
Now, even though he wasn't the real Spider-Man, relying on his extraordinary strength and agility, he was almost no different from the genuine article.
"Alright, maybe there's still a slight difference between me and the real Spider-Man."
Yet, overconfident Peter was quickly proven wrong.
After all, this was his first day using the Web-Shooter to cosplay as Spider-Man.
So it made sense that her web-slinging wasn't all that smooth.
Well, anyway, after chasing for several blocks without catching up to Gwen—and even watching the distance between them grow—Peter consoled himself with that thought.
"But don't forget, I'm playing the role of a ruthless villain right now, and all righteous heroes share one common and fatal weakness."
Watching Gwen pull further and further away, Peter decided to live up to his villainous instincts.
The next moment, Peter gave up swinging between skyscrapers on webs.
Instead, he landed on the street, casually picked a car parked in a spot, punched through the window, grabbed the car by its A-pillar, aimed at Gwen still swinging between the high-rises ahead, and effortlessly hurled the entire vehicle at her.
"Heh, that guy might be strong, but he's still lacking the experience of a real Spider-Man."
Seeing that she was about to leave him far behind, Gwen felt a flicker of happiness for the first time.
"Again?"
As her Spider-Sense suddenly flared, Gwen instinctively used her web to shift her body sideways mid-swing.
Whoosh!
The next moment, a car flew past her, nearly grazing her body.
It kept going without losing momentum and smashed straight into a nearby high-rise. Luckily, there was no explosion like in the movies.
"This guy really deserves to die..."
Still shaken, Gwen couldn't help looking back—and that one glance made her face change instantly.
Down on the street, the guy calling himself "Venom" had picked up another car and was already hurling it straight at her.
And the kicker was, there was a middle-aged man in the driver's seat, screaming in terror.
Whoosh!
Another car tore through the air.
But this time, Gwen couldn't dodge like before. As Spider-Woman, her creed wouldn't let her abandon an innocent person in danger.
She leaped using her web, her graceful body hanging upside down between the high-rises, dodging the car's direct impact.
Then, in the split second she was above the vehicle, she fired several webs at the car's body.
Using the pull of the webs and her own considerable strength, she snapped several strands before finally canceling out the car's immense momentum.
"There. That one."
Spotting a single dark window on a nearby high-rise, Gwen used her webs to gently swing the car over.
Crash...
With the sound of breaking glass, a car suddenly burst through the window into a room.
"Hey... how's it going?"
Staring at the couple who had been tangled up in bed and were now scrambling to the floor in shock, the driver, still shaken, greeted them apologetically.
"What the fuck, how do you even drive?! This is the eighth floor, goddammit!"
The nearly paralyzed man shouted at the driver, who was stuck in the window and couldn't get the door open.
