Background / History

Death Camp and Disfigurement

Hu Liena enters Spirit Hall’s Death Camp training alongside her brother Xie Yue and their companion Yan. During the canyon trial, Poisonous Miasma Fierce Python venom disfigures her face. Qian Yuxi treats her and Xie Yue with Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent essence blood and python gallbladder bile, but her facial damage remains 20 30 34.

She acknowledges that she and Qian Yuxi are “already even,” yet treats her resentment as a personal grudge. When Xie Yue and Yan disappear, she tells Instructor Jiang Xiruan that she does not know where they have gone, then quietly challenges Qian Yuxi to a life-and-death duel in one year 34 37.

After Qian Yuxi exhausts himself defeating Bibi Dong, Hu Liena tries to stab him while he is unconscious, declaring that she will avenge her brother and Yan. Jiang Xiruan strikes her down before she can succeed. Bibi Dong delays the pursuing instructors, allowing the two to escape together; Hu Liena subsequently becomes her disciple 44 46.

Nuoding Academy and Recovery

Bibi Dong brings Hu Liena to Nuoding Academy, where she conceals her damaged face beneath a veil. Her insecurity erupts into violence when Xiao Chenyu insults her appearance: she defeats him and his companions, threatens him with a shortsword, and demands an apology 46 48.

At twelve, she befriends Tang San over a cafeteria meal and appreciates his views on cultivation. Xiao Wu’s jealousy produces a confrontation in which Hu Liena immobilizes her with Fox Charm and repeatedly slaps her. Xiao Wu then knocks aside Hu Liena’s veil and mocks her injuries, prompting Bibi Dong to take her for treatment 75 76 77.

Ye Renxin restores her face with Nine Heart Begonia in two hours, ending three years of festering damage. Bibi Dong pays with a valuable belt-type Soul Tool. After graduating, she remains at Nuoding Academy as a teacher rather than immediately entering Shrek Academy. Rakshasa Succession and Betrayal

Hu Liena follows the masked Qian Yuxi and Qian Renxue, whom she knows as Thousand Ghosts and Thousand Empress. After attacking them, she is surrounded and severely beaten by their companions without recognizing Qian Yuxi beneath his mask 176.

Her hatred of Qian Yuxi and Spirit Hall attracts the Rakshasa God, who chooses her as a successor. Completing the first trial advances her to Soul King and transforms her martial soul into the Rakshasa Demonic Fox 199 217.

She subsequently helps Tang San turn students against Qian Yuxi, presenting her disfigurement and her brother’s death as evidence of Spirit Hall’s cruelty 222. Her reliance on Millennium Evil Qi becomes increasingly destructive: she kills the child Xiao Lin and absorbs her blood qi to calm its instability 245.

Hu Liena and Tang San take the unconscious Bibi Dong into Slaughter City. There, the Rakshasa God confirms that Hu Liena has replaced her former teacher as successor. Later revelations establish that the pair killed Bibi Dong and that Hu Liena swallowed her soul, which she spends nearly a year attempting to refine 246 247 313.

Tournament Defeats and Recuperation

During the tournament preliminaries, Hu Liena attacks with the God-Slaying Sword. Qian Renxue blocks it with the Fire Dragon King Wings and scatters her Millennium Evil Qi. The resulting backlash sends Hu Liena out of control and ends in a public defeat and exposure 285 310.

She returns to Slaughter City to restore her killing intent, evil qi, and damaged sword. Mortal killing intent proves insufficient to return the artifact to its former peak; she estimates that its power has fallen by at least a quarter. She nevertheless prioritizes returning to Tang San over making the longer journey to the Evil Ghost Sea Domain 288 292 299.

During treatment, the King of Slaughter discovers that her memories of the year when she was nine were deliberately sealed by a Limit Douluo-level being. He cannot undo the seal, but locates its source in a sunless gorge in the continent’s southwest. Hu Liena leaves before hearing his warning not to fight Qian Renxue again 299.

On returning to the advancement tournament, she demands to compete despite not appearing on the lineup. Salas suppresses her with Spirit Douluo pressure and declares her eliminated for violating the rules 310.

She subsequently faces Qian Renxue again and loses despite her six rings, recovered sword, and strongest techniques. The dispersal of her evil qi allows Bibi Dong’s partially digested soul to escape and publicly expose her murder. Hu Liena swallows the soul again 312 313 314.

In the tournament’s final conflict, she follows the Rakshasa God’s instruction to gather six teammates’ Rakshasa Evil Qi onto Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer, helping him activate its Martial Soul Avatar 332.

Fate After Death

By the time she enters a vortex gate leading to a ruined town, Hu Liena exists as a soul body and is seeking resurrection. She encounters figures resembling Xie Yue and Yan, who accuse her of causing their deaths. Xie Yue crushes her soul body’s head, after which a purplish-red glimmer restores it 361.

The figures then dissolve and reform into dozens of vengeful souls from Death Camp. Despite her protests, they tear into her until her consciousness is completely devoured. Phantom Butterfly observes and records the ordeal, mocking the former Rakshasa successor’s fear of resentment 361.
