Late at night, Ling Xingjian dreamed in bed.
Her dream was bizarre and kaleidoscopic.
First, she dreamed of Evil Qi surging unstoppably from the horizon, of a human world where evil filth ran rampant and all fell forever into the abyss. Wherever the Evil Qi reached, every human turned into a clawing mud monster, before finally melting into a towering black torrent of filth that drowned everything.
At this point in the dream, Ling Xingjian unconsciously struggled in bed, resisting.
Then the dream changed. She dreamed of opening the gates of holy light wide, baptizing the world as blazing holy radiance shone upon it like a resplendent sun. Supreme Heaven opened and enveloped the entire Earth, thoroughly driving out all Evil Qi. She herself became like the selfless Heavenly Dao, completely embedded within Supreme Heaven's core, exhausting every shred of will to maintain its operation and existence.
When she dreamed this, the struggling Ling Xingjian calmed down. Her entire body was still tense, but at least she was no longer as agitated as before.
But then the dream changed again. This time, she dreamed that the billions upon billions of believers in Supreme Heaven had all transformed from humans into faceless monstrosities. These faceless people knew neither male nor female, old nor young. They had no thoughts, no individuality, no differences. Their only task each day was to kneel on the ground and devoutly pray to Supreme Heaven's core.
Could people like that still be called human? How were they any different from machines that produced holy light?
