The story of the twelfth arc might have seemed simple—a cliché tale of rescuing someone—but in truth, it carried much that linked what came before to what followed, along with many hidden foreshadowings.
After all, there had been far too many coincidences behind Shi Tiexin's successful rescue this time.
Were they really coincidences?
Of course not.
I won't spoil any more.
Starting with this arc, Shi Tiexin's life in the Main Worldline would no longer revolve around campus life and martial arts arenas. He would officially step into the treacherous world of jianghu, and the many major events to come would slowly unfold from this point onward.
But enough about the Main Worldline's major events. Let's talk about the next arc first.
I had already conceived the plot for the next arc in August 2020. The idea came from many classic science fiction works, poked fun at social phenomena of the time, and offered one of my own predictions.
If I could have written it back then, I'd absolutely have been called a prophet—and gotten stabbed in the process.
Now, though, it just looked like I was chasing a hot topic.
Slow updates really killed people!
Of course, writing a novel wasn't the same as writing social commentary, so it couldn't possibly match social phenomena exactly. In the next arc, I would condense things as much as possible, keep the intensity high as much as possible, and avoid worthless stale jokes as much as possible.
Let us continue together into the thirteenth arc of the Era of Mist:
Abyssal Excavation of All Nature
As usual, I'll spend tomorrow thinking through the plot. After all, the shift in style is rather major, so I'll need a couple of days to adjust.
