Arriving on the third floor, he stopped before the dormitory door. A glance showed it was a white sheet-metal door. Taking out the key, Shi Tiexin stared blankly at the ring of keys for a long while. To him, metal keys like these were practically antiques, and he had no idea how the thing was supposed to be used. Yet his body seemed to understand perfectly, inserting the key into the lock on its own.

With a twist of his wrist, there was a click, and the sheet-metal door unlocked. Pushing it open revealed a modestly sized student dormitory, furnished with four steel bunk beds. The upper levels were beds, while the lower levels were desks. All four desks were piled high with books, and apart from a few uncollected snack bags, there was not much miscellaneous clutter.

Though to Shi Tiexin these things were as old as the holographic records displayed in a museum, he instinctively felt that the conditions here were fairly good.

It seemed that, in this place, he was not at the very bottom.

The chaos in his head made him drowsy. Shi Tiexin closed the door, climbed onto the bed that felt familiar to him, and could not hold on any longer. He dropped onto it with a bang. Breathing in the scent of laundry soap from the pillowcase beneath his head, a few thoughts flashed through his mind before he sank into a deep sleep.

Mm, this was already very good...

In his deep slumber, Shi Tiexin vaguely sensed the conflicting thoughts in his mind suddenly easing, lowering their banners and silencing their drums, no longer clashing like needle against awl. His mind gradually grew more comfortable, and the facial muscles that had been taut all along finally relaxed.

But this wonderful hibernation did not last long.

After roughly an hour, a rapid knock suddenly rang out. Bang bang bang! The knocking was forceful, carrying an air that brooked neither doubt nor defiance.

"Shi Tiexin, open the door!"

Still groggy, Shi Tiexin jolted awake. The voice filled him with fear from the bottom of his heart. He hurriedly climbed down from the bed, ran to the door, and opened it with a click. Then an enormous square head thrust straight in.

It was Zheng Kaiming, the Square-headed Fiend, his face dark.

Three students entered with Zheng Kaiming. All three wore armbands on their left arms. The blood-red words "Discipline Committee" made it clear that they were members of the Student Union Discipline Committee.

The Square-headed Fiend plus the Discipline CommitteeShi Tiexin's calves had instinctively begun to tremble.

Yet his face remained utterly calm. His mind and body were still under the control of different consciousnesses.

After entering, Zheng Kaiming said nothing else. He merely stood there and watched Shi Tiexin. The three Discipline Committee students, meanwhile, began ransacking Shi Tiexin's bunk like wolves hunting prey, turning things over here and checking there, their three thieving pairs of eyes missing no suspicious detail.

Though he had already made his calculations, what sort of person was the Square-headed Fiend? How could he let off someone who had fallen into his hands so easily? If they could find any contraband Shi Tiexin had hidden away, even just a single cigarette, they would definitely make the brat suffer!

But a moment later, all three Discipline Committee students shook their heads without speaking.

Seeing that Shi Tiexin's expression had not changed from beginning to end, Zheng Kaiming finally spoke. "Oh? Very calm. Looks like you already know what's coming. Roaring in class, assaulting a teacher—Shi Tiexin, you've got some nerve. We could directly expel you today!"

Expelled?!

Shi Tiexin's head buzzed. One consciousness was flooded with an apocalyptic dread, as though the sky had fallen. The other, while not so despairing, still felt stunned. Damn it, I just got to this Sacred Land of cultivation, and I'm getting kicked out just for shouting once?!

But neither consciousness could fully take charge right now. Thus, Shi Tiexin's face remained completely expressionless. Even his gaze did not shift as he stared fixedly at Zheng Kaiming.

For some reason, he actually displayed the bearing of a great general, unshaken even if the sky came crashing down.

This kid... why wasn't he afraid at all? He was putting on an act, definitely putting on an act—or perhaps he had already been scared stupid. Zheng Kaiming muttered inwardly, but continued aloud. "But considering your usual conduct has been fairly good, the school has decided to give you a chance to turn over a new leaf. You will not be expelled."

Both consciousnesses breathed a sigh of relief at once. Good, good, good—at least he was not being expelled. As long as he was not expelled, anything else was fine!

But Shi Tiexin's face remained as calm as ever.

This guy... wasn't acting? Zheng Kaiming stared into Shi Tiexin's eyes, but found not the slightest trace of panic or wild joy. Could he be an idiot? Forget it. Zheng Kaiming could not be bothered to think any further and said directly, "However, anyone who violates school rules and discipline must be punished. Student Shi Tiexin, your punishment is as follows. Effective immediately, you will be transferred out of Class 7, First Year and into Class 28, First Year. Your dormitory, cafeteria, and all related arrangements will be changed accordingly. This takes effect at once."

Hm?

What did that mean?

From Class 7, First Year to Class 28, First Year—this was the punishment? I thought it would be something serious.

But the other consciousness clearly did not see it that way. Upon hearing the news, that consciousness turned completely blank, as if it had received some unacceptable, earth-shattering bad news. Its feelings were hardly better than when it had just heard he might be expelled.

The three Discipline Committee students could not help glancing at Shi Tiexin, their eyes full of pity. He had been thrown straight from a Key Class into the Trash Class. This truly counted as being stripped all the way to the bottom.

"Pack your things and go." Zheng Kaiming did not wait for Shi Tiexin to react. With a wave of his hand, he said, "Help Student Shi pack up all his belongings."

The three Discipline Committee students immediately pounced like wolves and tigers. Taking out bags they had prepared beforehand, they grabbed Shi Tiexin's belongings and stuffed them inside. In the blink of an eye, everything was a mess. His bedding had only just been warmed by sleep, yet he was already in the position of rolling it up and leaving.

As they packed, the three also conducted a thorough search. They even turned the books upside down and shook them with a rustle, apparently hoping to shake out one or two sexy photo cards.

Zheng Kaiming watched Shi Tiexin's reaction from the corner of his eye.

But Shi Tiexin still showed no reaction at all. He did not care that his books were being searched, nor did he care about being forced to pack up and leave. In his eyes, as long as he remained in this Sacred Land of cultivation, everything else was a minor matter.

But very soon, he discovered what being transferred from Class 7, First Year to Class 28, First Year truly meant.

Carrying his bundle and holding the bag, he handed over the key to the dormitory. Zheng Kaiming's group loosely surrounded Shi Tiexin like guards escorting a prisoner, leading him out of the dormitory building and deeper into the dormitory area.

Presumably, they were going to "arrange his dormitory and cafeteria accordingly" and move him to the dormitory district for Class 28, First Year.

But after only a few steps, Shi Tiexin realized something was wrong.
