Click. In the murky darkness, the lights came on.
The light illuminated a spacious hall.
It was level and clean. The flesh tendrils that had tangled everywhere had all transformed into a floor as smooth as a mirror, outlining dazzling patterns.
At the very center of the hall stood a long table. At one end of it sat Chen Jin.
He was tall and handsome, his long hair cascading like a waterfall. Although another head had grown from each of his shoulders, strangely enough, they were not nauseating to look at. On the contrary, they seemed as though they had been born that way, even carrying an inexplicable beauty.
The heads on either side had their eyes closed. Only the central head lowered its gaze, calmly examining the crystal goblet in his hand.
There was wine in the goblet. Red wine.
He gently swirled the glass, watching the splendid crimson within, then suddenly said, "You shouldn't have restarted the Forward's computer."
No one answered.
Yet Chen Jin smiled faintly. "Still not putting down your gun? You no longer have a chance."
In the corner, Ling Xingjian emerged from invisibility. She struggled to hold up the heavy sniper rifle in her hands, gritting her teeth and persevering, but she could not pull the trigger. A formless, chaotic Gravity Field had caught the muzzle, making it impossible for her to aim.
"Hah..." Ling Xingjian lowered the sniper rifle and rose to her feet. "You don't look like I imagined. You didn't grow some gaping, bloody maw."
"Heh heh, did you think I would be like those inferior lifeforms?" Chen Jin clapped his hands, and beautiful symphonic music immediately filled the hall. "Take off your helmet. The air here is breathable."
Ling Xingjian hesitated, but still yanked off her helmet, revealing her face.
