The gains from that battle could be divided into two parts. The first was the reward from killing that Frostwing Tiger.
The skill Lin Mo had used to kill that monster was [Blazing Moon Sky Charge], a combination of [Blood Moon Sky Charge] and [Spear of Blazing Fire]. Since [Spear of Blazing Fire] was already max level, only [Blood Moon Sky Charge] gained proficiency.

The second part, and the main event, was the Unicorn Black Armored Beetle that had suddenly appeared.
Its level was one higher than Lin Mo had previously estimated. It was not level 13, but Level 14.
Lin Mo's highest profession level, Mage, was currently Level 12, which happened to trigger the effect of killing an enemy two levels above him, granting an additional 50% proficiency increase.
The strike that had killed it, meanwhile, was not the combination skill [Magic Lightning Piercing Kill] Lin Mo had used before.
One of the skills making up [Magic Lightning Piercing Kill], [Lightning Strike], had already reached max level and evolved into the new skill [Spear of Mad Lightning]. Continuing to use the original skill would create the same issue as [Blazing Moon Sky Charge], where only one skill could receive proficiency.
To solve that problem, Lin Mo simply studied and adjusted it, recombining the skills. He combined the evolved [Spear of Mad Lightning] with [Magic Light Piercing Kill], creating the new [Raging Lightning Pierce Kill], which was even more powerful.
It also allowed both skills to gain proficiency, killing two birds with one stone.
