In the early morning, sunlight filtered through the gaps in the window and fell across Lin Mo's face.
Before he even opened his eyes, Lin Mo's consciousness gradually awakened. The stifling air made him frown.
Summer weather really was unbearable. It would be nice if this world had air conditioning...
But why did his body feel a little cool... Had the villagers brought over some ice?
The icy sensation quickly jolted Lin Mo awake, and only then did he hear the steady breathing beside him.
Looking down, he saw two slender arms tightly wrapped around his waist, with a fair thigh draped over him as though he were a body pillow.
The heavy weight against his chest was a girl's delicate face. The ears atop her head were pressed directly against his chest, soft and furry, making him a little itchy.
"Ally?!"
Lin Mo froze for a long while, certain that he had neither drunk alcohol nor done anything strange last night.
So why was she in his room?
"Lin Mo, are you awake? The village chief said he wanted to see us about—"
Alston pushed open the door and took in the scene before him. His mouth twitched, and he silently closed the door again.
"Ahem—The village chief has something to discuss with us. You... you two can come straight to his house once you're up."
Lin Mo raised both hands high, looking utterly innocent.
Damn it, there was no way to clear this up now...
Ally was finally awakened by the commotion. She let out a soft, sleepy hum, rubbed her eyes, and stared blankly at Lin Mo.
"Ah, Lin Mo... good morning."

Lin Mo could not help pinching her cheek. "Wake up, Ally. Why are you in my room?"
Ally froze for a
