World of Azeroth, Northrend Continent, Icecrown Citadel.

The Lich King sat quietly upon the Frozen Throne, Frostmourne clutched in his hand at all times.

He was thinking, contemplating the Scourge Legion's next move.

Ever since Ner'zhul's soul had merged with Arthas's, even the Lich King himself could no longer tell whether Ner'zhul or Arthas was in control.

Perhaps the last shred of Arthas's humanity had prevented the Lich King from madly expanding his forces and seizing the entire Northrend Continent for the Scourge Legion.

But that was not important. After all, the entire Northrend Continent was already littered with undead strongholds.

One thing deeply puzzled the Lich King: he had resurrected Sindragosa, the beloved mate of Malygos, the Blue Dragon King. This most powerful Frost Dragon had now become one of Icecrown Citadel's elite combat assets.

By all rights, the Blue Dragon King should have flown into a rage and sought revenge against the Scourge Legion, even at the cost of inflicting even greater losses upon his already shattered blue dragon clan.

But Malygos had done no such thing. As though it had nothing to do with him, the Blue Dragon King calmly acted as a qualified spectator, watching the Lich King resurrect his beloved mate.

This abnormal behavior made the Lich King feel that something was wrong—very wrong.

It seemed some enormous conspiracy and plan was slowly unfolding around him, and its eventual gains were great enough for the Blue Dragon King to turn a blind eye to this matter.

This could not continue. The Lich King decided to seek a breakthrough, an opportunity to greatly strengthen the Scourge Legion's elite forces.

He soon found one: Light's Hope Chapel, the headquarters of the Silver Dawn in the Eastern Plaguelands.

Deep beneath that chapel lay the remains of countless paladins.
