"Your Majesty!"

Before the treasury stood another two guards clad head to toe in armor. Seeing the King Yota was impersonating arrive, they hurriedly saluted.

"Open the treasury. I want to take inventory," Yota said, lifting his chin slightly.

"Yes, Your Majesty." The two guards did not hesitate. They took the key Yota handed over and pushed open the treasury doors.

It might have seemed sudden, but Yota had already learned that the King truly enjoyed taking inventory of his treasury. Apparently, at his worst, he had inspected it more than ten times in a single day.

That was also why he had not waited until daylight to come to the treasury. After all, the longer the night, the more could go wrong. He had none of the Old King's memories. If someone asked him something he did not know the answer to and noticed anything suspicious, he would be in real trouble.

After putting all his gains into the scroll, he finally swaggered out.

When he emerged, several guards were somewhat surprised. Why had the King's inventory check been so short this time?

Yota took the key and returned to the bedchamber, where he brought out the Old King's corpse again and placed it on the bed.

Besides, even if they spoke up, with the investigative capabilities of the One Piece World, there was no way they could trace it back to Yota.

The next morning, back at the inn, Yota looked at the Devil Fruit in his hand and ate it with a frown.

"Ugh... its reputation is well deserved. The taste of a Devil Fruit."

After finishing the Devil Fruit, Yota felt as though some strange change had occurred within his body.

He glanced at the Samurai sword at his waist. His nose seemed to catch a creamy scent, while an odd sensation told him that he could completely eat the Samurai sword.

Opening his mouth, Yota's jaws stretched wider and wider. In the end, they had widened to an unimaginable limit, and he swallowed the Samurai sword in one bite.

A strange flavor flowed through his mouth, like a biscuit. Before he could savor the taste of the Samurai sword, he felt a bizarre change come over his body. A cool energy coursed through him, and he could manifest it at will in any part of his body.

Yota held out one hand. Soon, it took on a metallic appearance, while his nails turned into sharp blades more than ten centimeters long. With a light swipe, he left marks on the table.

"So this is the power of the Munch-Munch Fruit? Fusing two completely different substances into one."

"But these energies do not seem to have been digested by me... They have merely merged with me in the form of energy and altered my shape."

With that thought, he drew out the energy, opened his mouth wide, and spat the Samurai sword back out.

"Perhaps once I develop the Munch-Munch Fruit to a certain level, I'll be able to digest this energy permanently. By then, it might even permanently strengthen my body!"

Of course, Yota only entertained that idea briefly. With his current abilities, he was still far from awakening the fruit's power.

What he had obtained from the palace of Drum Kingdom was not merely a Devil Fruit. He had also acquired a Grade Sword and a training manual for Observation Haki.

The Grade Sword was good, but it was useless to Yota for the moment. It was around 1.4 meters long, slightly taller than he was. On top of that, he only knew a little basic swordsmanship, so he simply could not use it.

If he forced himself to use it, it probably would not increase his combat strength. Instead, it would expose even more openings.

Still, it could at least serve as material for his Munch-Munch Fruit, so it was not entirely useless.

What truly tempted Yota at present was naturally the Observation Haki training manual. After all, methods for training Haki were exceedingly rare in the first half of the Grand Line.
