Doflamingo settled King Riku and Violet on Beast-Dragon Island while his fame as Steve grew after he blinded Big Mom and earned approval as an Admiral Candidate. • Doflamingo learned that his defeat of Big Mom had made him famous and that Sengoku had approved his Admiral Candidate qualification.
  • Kozuki Oden discovered that Clown Buggy had left a letter promising to take care of their rear while they faced Kaido and Kurozumi Orochi.

Ch. 122Treating Golden Lion

Joker watched Kozuki Oden’s battle with Kaido and Kurozumi Orochi, then offered Golden Lion treatment for the ship’s wheel embedded in his head. After Shiki accepted despite the risks, Joker smashed his head apart and examined the wheel.

  • Joker cheered on Kozuki Oden’s charge from the sky while Golden Lion questioned why he was not helping Oden.
  • Joker said Shiki’s declining strength came from his head injury and offered to remove the ship’s wheel in exchange for a favor.
  • Joker demonstrated his Chop-Chop Fruit powers by breaking and reassembling a Den Den Mushi, then warned Shiki that the treatment could go wrong.
  • Shiki agreed to the treatment and suppressed his instinct to defend himself as Joker patted his head.
  • Joker burst Shiki’s head into pieces, joked about his condition, and picked up the bloodied ship’s wheel.

Ch. 123Joker's Plan

Joker removed the ship’s rudder from Golden Lion’s head, restoring his Haki and putting him on the path to recovery. He then revealed that he planned to take over Kozuki Oden’s forces after Oden died by holding the emperor hostage to command the lords.

Ch. 124Make a Move

Doflamingo gave Sakazuki’s young son the Wyvern Fruit, then arranged to trade the boy to a secretive organization in exchange for a Logia Devil Fruit. Three days later, the buyers arrived on Sakura Island, and Doflamingo headed to meet them disguised by an illusion.

  • Doflamingo used his illusion ability to bring Sakazuki’s son out of the family Training Grounds and gave him the Wyvern Fruit, which let the boy transform and fly.
  • Doflamingo contacted a dark organization and negotiated to trade the boy for a Logia Devil Fruit, arguing that Celestial Dragons would pay dearly for a dragon.
  • The organization agreed to deliver a Devil Fruit in three days, and Doflamingo spent the waiting period on Sakura Island without anyone remembering him or Zeus.
  • On the morning of the third day, Doflamingo learned the buyers had reached the shore and created an illusion of grotesque pirates as he went to meet them.

Ch. 125Snow-Snow Fruit

Doflamingo used an illusion to abduct a boy with the Wyvern Fruit and infiltrated a harbor exchange involving the Snow-Snow Fruit. He stole the fruit and left the agents and Modock unaware of what had happened.

  • Doflamingo sent realistic pirate phantoms to knock out the people in a manor, then took an eight- or nine-year-old boy.
  • At the harbor, two men in black tried to exchange the Snow-Snow Fruit for the boy, but they killed the cloaked trader and kept both goods for themselves.
  • Modock noticed something strange about the trader but stayed silent, while the men in black confirmed the boy was a Wyvern Fruit user and planned to sell the Snow-Snow Fruit later.
  • Doflamingo emerged after the group left, holding the Snow-Snow Fruit, and deduced that the men in black were CP agents who had betrayed the deal.

Ch. 126Wano Country Battle Situation

Doflamingo traveled to Wano Country to claim Kozuki Oden’s soul, but arrived in time to witness Kaido ambush Oden and defeat the Nine Red Scabbards. After acquiring Kurozumi Higurashi’s Imitation Fruit, Doflamingo disguised himself and settled in the Flower Capital while waiting for Oden’s execution.

  • Doflamingo learned that Kozuki Oden was fighting Kaido and rode Zeus to Wano Country, stopping at Beast-Dragon Island for a meal.

  • Kaido killed Kurozumi Higurashi, and the fruit Doflamingo was holding transformed into her Imitation Fruit.
  • Doflamingo headed to the Flower Capital, used an illusion to look like a Wano Country native, and sampled local food.
  • Doflamingo found an inn and rested for the night, expecting Kozuki Oden’s execution to take place later.

Ch. 127Execution

Doflamingo watched Kozuki Oden’s execution, absorbed his soul in the Illusion Space, and gained his Haki and swordsmanship talent. After King’s attack destroyed the inn, Doflamingo found Shinobu injured and provoked King into charging at him.

  • Doflamingo learned that Kozuki Oden and his retainers would be executed, then watched the execution and collected Oden’s soul as the Nine Red Scabbards escaped.
  • In the Illusion Space, Doflamingo absorbed Oden’s Mental Energy and gained his Haki and swordsmanship talent, then restored Paradise Totsuka.
  • Doflamingo sensed King pursuing someone toward the inn, but King’s flaming sword energy destroyed the building and grazed Shinobu.
  • Doflamingo recognized the injured Shinobu and confronted King, who demanded that he hand her over.
  • Doflamingo taunted King about his repeated defeats, and King lost his temper and charged at him.

Ch. 128Calling for Backup

Doflamingo easily defeated King in their exchanges, using Future Sight to counter King’s speed and land a powerful slash. Realizing he could not win alone, King called the Beasts Pirates to assemble, leaving Doflamingo and Shinobu facing the prospect of reinforcements.

  • Doflamingo kicked King away and then struck him again with a Conqueror’s Haki-infused Flying Slash, while Shinobu watched in shock.
  • Doflamingo checked Shinobu’s injuries as King blamed his sudden improvement for being able to blind Charlotte Linlin.
  • King transformed into his hybrid form and attacked Doflamingo from behind, but Doflamingo foresaw the move and slashed him away.
  • King stood up and fired a blazing slash into the sky, where it formed a dragon-shaped signal.
  • King flew overhead and called for the Beasts Pirates to assemble, leaving Shinobu stunned.

  • King attacked Doflamingo, but Doflamingo used illusions and a lightning-charged strike to grievously wound him.
  • Doflamingo escaped with Shinobu on Thundercloud Zeus as Kaido appeared in the sky in a drunken dragon form.

Ch. 130Don't Drink and Drive (Mist)... Battle

  • Doflamingo turned back and used his illusion ability to make Kaido relive the battle with Kozuki Oden, causing Kaido to attack the Beasts Pirates and the Flower Capital.
  • Kaido's rampage inflicted heavy casualties on the Beasts Pirates, and Shinobu begged Doflamingo to save the civilians.
  • Doflamingo directed Kaido toward the Tenshukaku, where Kaido's flaming attack destroyed the building and exposed Kurozumi Orochi and Kurozumi Semimaru behind a barrier.
  • Doflamingo controlled Kurozumi Semimaru, who lowered the barrier, and Kaido's next Heat Breath killed him and Kurozumi Orochi.
  • Doflamingo sensed that the Illusion Space had absorbed something unusual, entered it, and found an Eight-Headed Serpent that seemed to be Kurozumi Orochi.

Ch. 131Eight-Headed Serpent Fruit

Doflamingo seized the Eight-Headed Serpent Fruit from Kurozumi Orochi’s soul but learned that eating it would kill him because he already had a Devil Fruit power. Back in Wano, he considered Shinobu’s plea to stop Kaido, and she unexpectedly misunderstood his offer to make her his subordinate.

  • Doflamingo absorbed Kurozumi Orochi’s soul power and claimed the Eight-Headed Serpent Fruit.
  • Doflamingo used Future Sight Observation Haki and realized that fusing with the fruit would make his body explode.
  • Doflamingo concluded that his soul-collection ability would only work on rare Devil Fruits with resurrection powers.
  • Doflamingo left the Illusion Space as Kaido charged through the Flower Capital, while Shinobu urged him to put her down so she could stop Kaido.
  • Doflamingo offered to help Shinobu if she became his subordinate, and Shinobu assumed he had fallen for her charm.

Ch. 132Wounded Again

Doflamingo gave the injured Shinobu the Imitation Fruit, then used a copy of Kozuki Oden’s Paradise Totsuka to badly wound Kaido. Kaido recovered from the illusion and alcohol to find his crew devastated and Kurozumi Orochi and Kurozumi Semimaru dead, and demanded to know who had killed them.

  • Doflamingo recruited Shinobu, gave her the Imitation Fruit, and left her on the ground before returning to fight Kaido.
  • Doflamingo attacked Kaido’s old wound with a cross-shaped Paradise Totsuka strike infused with Haki and Zeus’s lightning.

  • Kaido and Doflamingo exchanged powerful attacks, and Kaido’s old wound reopened as Doflamingo was forced back.
  • Kaido flew after Doflamingo when he led the fight away from the Flower Capital to protect its people.
  • Doflamingo used Outer Heaven Flying Fairy and Illusion to exploit Kaido’s wound, then appeared at his left and thrust Narikitsune into him.

Ch. 134Holding the Upper Hand

Doflamingo used illusions and Intangibility to dominate Kaido through a battle that lasted more than ten hours, exploiting Kaido’s existing rib wound. As Doflamingo realized how powerful his abilities had become, Kaido grew furious and humiliated at the prospect of losing to him.

  • Kaido transformed into a dragon after Doflamingo stabbed him, but his massive body made the wound insignificant, and he attacked with a Heat Breath that Doflamingo split with his sword.
  • Kaido returned to human form, but Doflamingo’s illusions and mental interference kept him from locating or striking his opponent while Doflamingo repeatedly wounded him.
  • After more than ten hours of fighting, Doflamingo claimed he had made time intangible, and Kaido believed him despite Doflamingo privately admitting the explanation was nonsense.
  • Doflamingo recognized that Kaido’s weak mental resistance let him suppress the Emperor with illusions, and he concluded that Kaido’s existing rib wound could eventually bleed him to death.
  • Doflamingo’s confidence surged, strengthening his Haki and making his attacks more destructive, while Kaido blamed his injury and protested that only Kozuki Oden should be able to defeat him.

Ch. 135Spare Him

Doflamingo spared Kaido and tricked him into believing he had escaped, then returned to the Flower Capital. There, he found Shinobu facing a group in a hidden vault beneath the burned Tenshukaku and discovered three Devil Fruits.

  • Doflamingo entered a hidden Sea Stone vault and found valuable treasures, weapons, and three Devil Fruits.

Ch. 136Treasury

  • Fukurokuju objected when Shinobu tried to take the treasury, but she argued that Kaido would claim it if they left it behind.
  • Shinobu reminded Fukurokuju that Oden’s wife and children were being hunted, and the Oniwabanshu urged him to let her take the three Devil Fruits.
  • Shinobu took the Devil Fruits, and Fukurokuju ordered the ninjas to gather the remaining weapons and treasures so they could flee and join the Kozuki clan.
  • Doflamingo appeared in the passageway disguised as a badly injured man and claimed he had fought Kaido.
  • A round, yellow-clad ninja recognized Doflamingo as the man who used Oden Two-Sword Style, and Fukurokuju became wary of him.

Ch. 137Oden Castle

After Kaido killed Kurozumi Orochi, the Beasts Pirates moved to eliminate the Kozuki clan, and Shinobu learned that the Nine Red Scabbards were under attack. Queen the Plague captured the remaining Scabbards at Oden Castle and prepared to bombard it, while Doflamingo and Golden Lion watched from above.

  • Doflamingo told Shinobu that the Beasts Pirates had launched a strict manhunt for the Kozuki clan after Kaido killed Kurozumi Orochi.
  • Shinobu realized she needed to reach Kuri, but Doflamingo warned that the fighting had likely already begun.
  • Queen the Plague caught up with Kin'emon, Kiku, and Kanjuro outside Oden Castle and explained that Kaido had killed Kurozumi Orochi.

  • As poison gas filled Oden Castle, Kozuki Toki sent Kozuki Momonosuke twenty years into the future and told him to gather the Nine Red Scabbards and defeat Kaido.
  • Kozuki Toki told Kawamatsu to flee with the unconscious Kozuki Hiyori, but Joker crashed through the castle roof and reassembled himself.
  • Kawamatsu recognized Joker as a traitor and attacked him, but Joker's Chop-Chop Fruit power tore apart Kawamatsu's Haki-coated punch.
  • Joker grabbed Kozuki Hiyori and claimed he had come to treat her, while Kozuki Toki and Kawamatsu demanded that he let her go.
  • Joker aimed his pistol at Kozuki Toki's heart and fired.

Ch. 139Rescue?

  • Queen the Plague raked Clown Buggy with a Gatling-like machine gun and blasted him into pieces.

Ch. 140Joker Virus

Joker unleashed Joker Virus gas bombs outside Oden Castle, turning Queen the Plague’s men into crazed attackers while he fought his way through them. As the Numbers arrived with Inuarashi and Nekomamushi captive, Joker prepared another remote, leaving Queen facing an even more dangerous confrontation.

  • Joker detonated gas bombs that infected the Beasts Pirates, while the Nine Red Scabbards remained unharmed because Joker had given them antibodies.
  • Queen the Plague swallowed antidotes and fought off the infected pirates as Joker dismembered them and advanced through the bloodied battlefield.
  • Queen grabbed Kikunojo and threatened to kill her, but Joker taunted him instead of backing down.
  • The Numbers arrived carrying Inuarashi and Nekomamushi bound to wooden stakes, and Queen tried to use their arrival to intimidate Joker.
  • Joker took out another remote control as Queen wondered how many gas bombs he had planted around Oden Castle.
