"Move aside, Kakashi! Don't force me!"

Kondo Kunihiko gritted his teeth, his expression twisted. He knew that after showing weakness before Kakashi, it was almost impossible for him to evade this any longer.

It might have looked like only Kakashi had come after him, as though he could brush it off, but in a shinobi village with all kinds of Genjutsu, secret mind techniques, and truth serums, false testimony simply did not exist. As long as Kakashi was willing to testify against him, there was no way he could escape punishment!

His only path to survival now was to defeat Kakashi quickly and flee Konoha!

"So you intend to resist to the bitter end... Good. I would have been disappointed if you had surrendered without a fight!"

A cold smile tugged at the corner of Kakashi's mouth beneath his mask. He drew the White Fang Short Sword in his hand and pointed it at Kondo Kunihiko.

"Just an eight-year-old shinobi... Do you really think that being called a genius a few times means you can contend with a Jonin?"

Overwhelmed by agitation, Kondo Kunihiko said no more. He immediately formed hand seals with both hands, preparing to use a ninjutsu.

Yet in the blink of an eye, lightning flashed around Kakashi's body as he transformed into a streak of light and charged forward. The White Fang Short Sword in his hand faintly emanated a soft White Light, then came down in an instant!

Kondo Kunihiko, who had been forming hand seals, turned pale in fright and cried out:

"Captain White Fang!!"

His hand seals, once so familiar that he could perform them effortlessly, faltered at that moment from sheer shock. His fingers stiffened and trembled, causing a mistake, while the Chakra circulating within him shuddered violently. As Uchiha Feiyu reached out and retrieved Hatake Sakumo's soul, he feigned surprise as he asked. Kakashi immediately came back to himself and shook his head.

"I don't know what happened either... Maybe Father's spirit really did manifest? My swordsmanship usually isn't this good."

"And this guy was suddenly scared out of his wits, which was why I defeated him with one strike. Otherwise, even if I could maintain that state from before, defeating a Special Jonin would not be easy."

Without another word, Uchiha Feiyu turned the accusation around first, pointing at Kondo Kunihiko as he spoke. The group of Anbu exchanged puzzled looks.

The Anbu all recognized Kondo Kunihiko. After all, Hatake Sakumo had been the Anbu commander, and his being driven to suicide had caused an enormous uproar within the Anbu. Naturally, these Anbu shinobi had no favorable impression of Kondo Kunihiko.

But they did not really believe Kondo Kunihiko was a spy. The Anbu had investigated his background several times already. If there had truly been anything suspicious about him, he would have been in an Anbu interrogation room long ago.

Could it be that little Kakashi could not hold back any longer and wanted to use this to settle a personal grudge? That really was a little impulsive. He was White Fang's son, after all—they had to find a way to protect him...

As the Anbu Squad Leader at the front pondered this, he turned to glance at Kondo Kunihiko. He saw that the fallen man wore a blank expression and a helpless, bitter smile.

That expression... Why did it look so much like the expression of spies who had been captured and confessed? Could this guy really have a problem?!

"Captain, what do we do?"

An Anbu behind him quietly asked. The Anbu Squad Leader directly waved a hand.

"Take them all back to the Anbu first! Then investigate!"

Naturally, no investigation ever followed, because not long after Kondo Kunihiko was taken back to the Anbu, he was directly "made" to commit suicide by poison.

After all, there was still a Root within the Anbu. Root's original duty had been to train Anbu personnel, so making someone commit suicide inside the Anbu was naturally very easy.

Easy as it was, the Anbu shinobi were not idiots! Could shinobi villages from elsewhere directly silence someone inside the Anbu? If they truly had that ability, Konoha would have fallen apart long ago!

If the earlier public outcry over White Fang had only made some Jonin and more perceptive Chunin suspicious, then now it was practically certain that Konoha High Command had acted against him. Even ordinary shinobi, upon hearing that an Anbu spy had been made to commit suicide, began to question what had happened to White Fang.
