At the very beginning, when Uchiha Feiyu had obtained the Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium, he had worked hard for a time, hoping to obtain more information from the book.
Unfortunately, all his efforts had ultimately been futile. The Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium in his mind did not interact with the outside world at all, and Uchiha Feiyu had no idea how to obtain information from it.
"Now that I think about it... it's because I'd never killed anyone before. Otherwise, I probably would've discovered this book's properties long ago."
"Right. It's called the Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium, after all. Using human lives as sacrifices is perfectly normal."
"I just don't know whether the sacrifices have to be humans, or whether any intelligent creature will do. Besides humans, the Naruto World also has plenty of intelligent races, such as summoned beasts."
"I killed those Fierce Beasts before. Although they were much smarter than ordinary animals, they definitely didn't count as intelligent races. At the very least, they couldn't speak."
As he pondered, Uchiha Feiyu did not hesitate to sacrifice all three wisps of black energy on the altar. At once, the enormous Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium in his mind trembled slightly and released a fragment of information.
"A method for breeding Silver Scaled Poisonous Snakes? What kind of nonsense is this?"
After closing his eyes and absorbing the information, obvious dissatisfaction appeared on Uchiha Feiyu's face. What the Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium had given him this time was clearly far from satisfactory.
After carefully identifying it, Uchiha Feiyu recognized the origins of the so-called Silver Scaled Poisonous Snake.
It was a strange and venomous snake bred by West Venom Ouyang Feng in Legend of the Condor Heroes. Two such Silver Scaled Poisonous Snakes were coiled around the Iron Staff in Ouyang Feng's hand. Not only were their bodies as hard as gold and iron, immune to blades and spears, but their venom was also exceptionally deadly. Even a master on North Beggar Hong Qigong's level would nearly lose his life from a single bite.
One had to know that when it came to resisting poison, internal energy was even more effective than Chakra. In terms of poison resistance alone, Hong Qigong surpassed even ordinary Kage-level powerhouses.
The breeding method for such strange venomous snakes was indeed useful, but to Uchiha Feiyu, it could only be considered a worthless scrap of paper.
"Maybe I could trade this thing to Orochimaru for something good? If only I could get in touch with Ryūchi Cave. Those Snake Youkai would probably pay quite a price for this scrap of paper."
The strange snakes bred by Ouyang Feng were not only incredibly venomous and impervious to blades and spears, but were also far faster and more intelligent than ordinary snakes. Otherwise, they could never have cooperated with his Serpent Staff Technique.
If ordinary venomous snakes could be raised into exotic beasts, then perhaps adding a variable like Chakra could truly produce some incomparably powerful summoned snake king. If Uchiha Feiyu presented this breeding method, perhaps he could trade it for a summoning contract with Ryūchi Cave.
"I remember the giant snakes of Ryūchi Cave are all about survival of the fittest. Whenever Orochimaru fights there, at least dozens or even hundreds of venomous snakes die... If I had that summoning contract, I could go to Ryūchi Cave every day to devour souls. My physique, Chakra, and spiritual power would probably soar."
With that thought, Uchiha Feiyu no longer felt disappointed. Although he did not know Orochimaru yet, finding that famous ninja for a trade probably would not be difficult.
Compared to Tsunade and Jiraiya, Orochimaru did not care much about Ryūchi Cave's summoning contract. Anko, Kabuto, and Sasuke Uchiha had all obtained contracts with Ryūchi Cave, and Ryūchi Cave likewise did not care much about its contractors.
This was undoubtedly good news for Uchiha Feiyu. If it had been the other two Sannin and their Summoning Sanctums, obtaining a contract would likely require more than a mere trade.
A swishing sound rang out, and Uchiha Feiyu's expression changed. In an instant, a short blade appeared in his hand, tracing a lightning-fast arc before pinning itself through the shoulder of the suddenly appearing ninja.
"Who are you?!"
"Wait, I'm Konoha Anbu! The Hokage has something to notify you about!"
The ninja wearing an animal mask showed no expression, but both his voice and movements carried a trace of panic. Blood faintly seeped from the shoulder pierced by the blade.
"So what if you're Anbu! Does being Anbu mean you don't have to use the front door and can just climb through windows? Does that mean if I put on an Anbu outfit, I can rummage through people's homes whenever I want?!"
Uchiha Feiyu had no intention of indulging the Anbu's habits. He immediately unleashed a barrage of scolding on the man, leaving the Anbu agent unable to retort. After all, he had only come to deliver a notice, and climbing through someone's window truly made no sense when put that way.
Ordinary ninjas had long grown accustomed to such intrusions by the Anbu, and coupled with their fear of Anbu agents, they naturally would not voice any complaints. Unfortunately, this time, they had run into Uchiha Feiyu, an immovable wall.
"I... I didn't mean it like that..."
"Then why didn't you knock when you came in? You were only here to notify me of something, not arrest me. Don't you have even that much respect?"
"Uh..."
The Anbu ninja was left speechless. With a cold face, Uchiha Feiyu drove the unlucky man out, then headed for the Hokage Building.
"That old Third Hokage is looking for me again... It's probably because of those few ninjas I killed?"
After a brief turn of thought, Uchiha Feiyu understood why the Third Hokage had summoned him. The strength he had displayed in battle was simply excessive. With Konoha currently in the Third Shinobi World War, it naturally needed his combat power.
"The initial clashes with the Sand Shinobi have already ended, and things have more or less entered a lull. The battlefield isn't as dangerous as it was at the beginning."
"If this drags on and the other major ninja villages join the war, I'll probably have to go to other fronts. Comparatively speaking, the Sunagakure battlefield is already considered safe."
On his way to the Hokage Building, Uchiha Feiyu continued persuading himself. In truth, he knew very well that the reason he had changed his mind was entirely because of the changes in the Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium.
Being able to sacrifice the lives of intelligent creatures in exchange for the knowledge within the Demonic Path Inheritance Compendium was the true reason Uchiha Feiyu had changed his mind.
For Uchiha Feiyu, who did not care much about Konoha, leaving the battlefield outright would not have been much of a problem. With his current strength, as long as he kept a low profile, his safety could be fully guaranteed.
Konoha, which was currently at war, could not possibly keep hounding a powerful ninja who neither knew any secrets nor had harmed them. In a few years, even after the war ended, Konoha would likely have no interest in seeking out Uchiha Feiyu.
The only reason he had abandoned the safer path was that fighting in the past had meant contributing to Konoha, whereas now, he was doing it for himself.
If he could obtain enough deathly black energy for sacrifices, he might be able to gain some demonic cultivation techniques from cultivation worlds and completely change his fate.
