Making Connections
As grandfather and grandson talked, a servant came to report.
"Old Master, Young Master, a guest has arrived!"
"A guest? So soon?" Long Qingyuan was surprised.
He had notified some people last night, most of whom had only been informed this morning.
And they had arrived this afternoon already?
By his estimate, they should not have arrived until evening.
"Who is it? Did they announce themselves?"
The servant replied, "Someone from Little Japan!"
"?" Long Qingyuan frowned.
If this had been at work, he would at least have put on an act and considered the impact and such.
But this was private. There was no need for him to put on a pleasant face.
Seeing his grandfather's resistance, Long Bowen was instead the first to ask, "Say everything at once."
The servant hurriedly said, "The other party calls himself Kameya Fujita!"
"He says he has come specifically to make the acquaintance of the Old Master."
Long Qingyuan froze.
Kameya Fujita?
Given his position, he naturally knew who the man was.
This man held no lowly status in Little Japan. He was a Minister of State.
A Minister of State was a member of the cabinet, the formal title for cabinet members. They were all core figures.
They participated in cabinet decision-making and were jointly responsible to parliament.
Kameya Fujita was equivalent to a minister!
Since he had come to pay a visit, it would naturally be improper to refuse him outright in public.
He still had to keep up appearances.
"Bring them to the reception hall!" Before Long Qingyuan could speak, Long Bowen directly made the arrangements.
Long Qingyuan looked at his grandson in disbelief.
Long Bowen explained, "Grandfather, the other party holds a high position in Little Japan. Building ties with him is not a bad thing."
