(Why didn't I write today? Because my back couldn't take it anymore. The new desk I bought should arrive tomorrow. These past two days after moving, I haven't had a desk to write at. Every time I write, my back hurts terribly, and it still hurts even after I'm done. I had no choice but to take a day off. Once the desk arrives tomorrow, I should be able to get back to normal and continue with six updates a day~)

Although Mei Terumi had already known that Chiba was most likely not from Kirigakure, there was always the possibility that he was a ninja working for the Land of Water's daimyo. That notion was shattered when Chiba answered her in person.
He reached into his Ninja Tool Pouch and pulled out a senbon. Some fish had gotten stuck between his teeth earlier. In stark contrast to Mei Terumi's tense urgency, Chiba was utterly relaxed.
"Precisely because every village except Kirigakure in the Land of Water is fighting. The village was worried, so they sent me to gather intelligence and see whether Kirigakure has any intention of attacking Konoha. You have to understand, we're already fighting Sunagakure and the Land of Rain on two fronts, while also keeping an eye on Iwagakure. If Kirigakure stabs us in the back, wouldn't we be finished?"
