The library was quiet.
Ye Han took out a recliner and lay down comfortably on it, holding a book in his hands and reading with great interest.
Beside him was a small tea table with some nuts on it. They were not for eating, but for throwing at people.
Every so often, Ye Han would toss one to the Ice Empress to keep her alert.
Before long, Zhao Jun and the others returned, their faces full of excitement.
"You're done already? That was way too fast!" Ye Han said as he looked at them.
"You call that fast? In previous years, the Pope would just say a few words and leave. This year, she said so much!" Liu Liting said excitedly, as though hearing the Pope's voice were something extraordinary.
"Ye Dage, it's really a shame you didn't go," Han Kun said.
"Haha, what's there to regret? With talent as outstanding as mine, meeting the Pope would be a matter of minutes." Ye Han boasted without even blushing, looking immensely proud.
"Hehe!"
The three of them laughed awkwardly and did not dare say anything else.
If Ye Han said something else rebellious, they would not be the only ones in trouble.
After Han Kun and Liu Liting left, Zhao Jun looked at Ye Han and said, "Ye Dage, thank you! That gift, for my sister—"
"Stop, stop. I gave that gift to your sister, so why the hell are you thanking me? It wasn't for you. Get lost already. Don't interrupt my reading." Before Zhao Jun could finish, Ye Han impatiently waved him away.
Zhao Jun was not offended in the slightest. Instead, he gave a long shout and laughed. "Alright, Ye Dage. I'll get lost right away."
The world was finally peaceful.
But the peace did not last long before a smooth, fair leg appeared in front of him.
Ye Han looked up. Slender, shapely calves; an elegant, well-fitting embroidered dress; a tiny waist that seemed fit to be held in one hand; budding little peaks; a long, snow-white neck; and a delicate, clean face all entered his sight. Who else could it be but Zhao Ling'er?
"Little beauty, we meet again. Are you here to borrow books this time, or to find your big brother?" Ye Han said with a smile.
He put away his book and stood up.
Zhao Ling'er hurriedly took several steps back.
Ye Han had been nothing much while lying there, but once he stood, an indescribable aura involuntarily rose in Zhao Ling'er's heart, making her both afraid and unable to resist drawing closer to him.
"I-I came to find you." Zhao Ling'er's tender little face flushed red, making her look exceedingly adorable.
"What did you come looking for me for? If it's to thank me, your brother already did that." Ye Han smiled.
To be honest, he did have a favorable impression of this girl, who was like an elf. But love? That would be a bit absurd.
"Oh, um, but I still have to thank you." After saying that, Zhao Ling'er ran away.
Ye Han smiled and did not think much of it. As he sat back down on the recliner, he casually picked up a nut and threw it behind him.
Time slipped away, and the years were merciless.
A year was neither short nor long.
Yet many things had happened. First, the illiterate of the Ye Family had become a learned man, well-read and knowledgeable, someone who would no longer make a fool of himself.
Second, the Martial Soul Hall Soul Master Academy truly deserved to be called the strongest Soul Master Academy on the continent. Its teaching staff was formidable and its educational resources abundant. In just half a year, Ye Han had found what he needed and matched each of the remaining medicinal herbs in his possession.
And for many people, this year had brought tremendous changes.
Liu Liting died on his way back to his hometown.
Han Kun quit and walked away from Spirit Hall.
And because of what happened to his sister, Zhao Jun had become an alcoholic obsessed with drink.
Whether familiar or unfamiliar, everyone had their own path in life.
Ye Han was like a passerby, observing carefully and silently experiencing the many facets of life. He could not help but sigh with emotion.
It was another first day of school. Ye Han came to the library and looked at the new faces recruited afterward, only to find that he could not even remember their names.
Shaking his head, Ye Han gave a bitter smile, feeling somewhat helpless.
In the end, he still could not interact normally with ordinary people. Their lives were far too fragile. Take Liu Liting, for example. That cheerful and lively young man had been in the prime of his life. Who could have imagined that he would suddenly be gone?
A strong smell of alcohol wafted toward him. Ye Han frowned slightly and saw a swaying figure staggering in his direction.
"You didn't go back last night again?" Ye Han asked.
"Hehe, Ye-Ye Dage, come on, have a couple drinks with your brother." The drunk Zhao Jun blinked his bleary eyes and slurred, "After-after this meal, I-I-I should be leaving."
"What happened?"
Ye Han immediately sensed that something was wrong with Zhao Jun's words.
"I-I got fired, haha." Zhao Jun gave a miserable laugh. Reeking of alcohol, he threw an arm around Ye Han's shoulders and headed outside.
Ye Han frowned as he looked at the drunken Zhao Jun. "Brothers for life. I'll help you beat that bastard to death."
"Hehe, good. Beat that bastard to death. Let's go."
Zhao Jun was clearly drunk. His madness was on full display as he raised an arm and shouted, blurting out all the things he normally did not dare say.
Ye Han did what he said. He directly took Zhao Jun to the Saint Child's residence.
Bang!
With a dull thud, Ye Han kicked open the front door of the Saint Child's residence.
"Who is it? You bastard, are you looking to die?"
The Saint Child, who was in the middle of his morning exercise, jerked in fright and nearly went limp. Then overwhelming fury surged forth.
As the words fell, a disheveled youth of around sixteen or seventeen, with black hair cascading like a waterfall, appeared before Ye Han.
When his gaze swept over the shattered door, the fury in the youth's eyes intensified. He released an undisguised violent killing intent, and even his handsome face twisted slightly.
What men hated most was being interrupted in the middle of battle. He had finally gotten the chance to enjoy the company of two beauties, only to be interrupted at the most crucial moment. How could he not be furious?
A piercingly cold killing intent swept toward them. Zhao Jun, who had been swaying behind Ye Han, shuddered and suddenly sobered up.
"Saint Child, I'm sorry. My friend and I drank too much. We'll leave right away." Zhao Jun hurriedly darted out from behind Ye Han, apologizing as he grabbed Ye Han and tried to pull him away.
Ye Han sighed helplessly. Perhaps this was the sorrow of ordinary people. They had been bullied beyond recognition, yet still had to bow and scrape, lowering their heads to apologize.
"Who did I think it was? So it's Zhao Jun. For Ling'er's sake, you can leave, but he has to stay." When the Saint Child saw Zhao Jun, his killing intent did not lessen at all. He gave a cold smile.
"Saint Child, who's here?"
Just then, a crisp voice rang out.
A woman with disheveled hair and an intoxicating flush on her face hurried downstairs with another equally beautiful woman.
They looked from one person to the other before turning their eyes to Ye Han, their gazes tightening slightly.
Someone actually dared to kick open the Saint Child's door? Wasn't that courting death?
Ye Han ignored the two women and looked at the Saint Child standing before him, who looked human enough but was no better than a dog.
It was this bastard who, after failing to win her affection, bore a grudge and caused the death of that pure and handsome girl.
Although Ye Han did not have romantic feelings for that girl, he liked the spiritual liveliness about her.
Unfortunately, everything had been ruined.
They said beautiful women brought disaster, but she had only been fifteen!
Because of this thing before him, she had died so young. Her brother had been devastated by what happened to her, but he was only an ordinary person with limited ability, so he could only drown his sorrows in alcohol.
"Ye-Ye Dage."
Zhao Jun tugged at Ye Han, his lips moving as he tried to dissuade him.
Though he wished he could slice the youth before them into ten thousand pieces, he could not drag Ye Han down with him.
"You're Ye Han, that librarian?"
The Saint Child looked at Ye Han and gave a disdainful sneer. He clearly knew Ye Han's identity.
Ye Han's eyes turned icy. He glanced at the Saint Child, who looked human enough but was no better than a dog, then patted Zhao Jun's shoulder and said flatly, "Let go of me. I'll help you beat him to death."
Ye Han's voice was gentle, and a faint smile remained on his face, yet his words carried an inexplicable force that inspired trust. Zhao Jun unconsciously released his grip.
"Hahaha, beat me to death? You?"
The Saint Child threw back his head and burst into laughter, as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world.
Ye Han did not waste words. With a step forward, he directly slapped him across the face.
PS: Zhao Ling'er appeared and nearly left me completely confused. Luckily, I managed to steer it back. Mm, give my quick thinking a like.
The excitement continues. Can I ask for some votes, brothers? If you don't have any votes, please give it a five-star review. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
