Background / History

Rise to the Papal Throne

Bibi Dong kills and devours Qian Xunji, takes the Pope's throne, and eventually brings all of Spirit Hall under her control. When Qian Daoliu confronts her, she openly admits responsibility for his son's death and defeats him despite his level-99 Ultimate Douluo cultivation. She then summons the eight offerings by imitating his voice and forces them to submit and consume mysterious pills 30 31 162.

Her early pursuit of greater power is tied to revenge for her treatment in Slaughter City. After identifying Bo Saixi through a portrait shown to Qian Daoliu, she vows to become a god rather than accept Bo Saixi's reputed invincibility in the ocean. She also orders searches for Qian Renxue and seeks the knowledge needed to complete her self-created Heaven Devouring Magic 31 32.

Ye Han and the Completion of Heaven Devouring Magic

Under the name Dong'er, Bibi Dong becomes entangled with Ye Han, who does not initially know that she is the Pope. Their relationship includes coercion and humiliation rather than straightforward courtship. Qian Renxue, also known as Ye Qingxin, offers to transmit her understanding of Ye Han's cultivation through Spiritual Dual Cultivation. After a year, Bibi Dong completes Heaven Devouring Magic and immediately attacks her daughter, injuring her 46 47.

At the academy tournament, Ye Han recognizes her face but is confused by her cold public manner. Bibi Dong considers killing him secretly, while worrying about Qian Renxue's reaction and Ye Chen. Their subsequent encounters alternate between hostility and intimacy: she openly tests whether Heaven Devouring Magic can kill him, but cannot overcome his resistance 109 126 127.

Bibi Dong also confronts Bo Saixi directly. Their battle escalates from undead-knight attacks to a demonic transformation, and Ye Han's spear pierces Bibi Dong, who mistakes it for Bo Saixi's attack. Ye Han subsequently saves her 123 124.

Founding the Spirit Hall Empire

Through decades of governance, Bibi Dong develops Spirit Hall into the Spirit Hall Empire. She destroys the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, cripples the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, secures the submission of the lower four sects, and claims that seventy percent of the continent's Soul Masters belong to her empire. She also commands a million troops and plans the continent's unification 140 141.

Her disciple Xiao Qi replaces Qian Renxue as an infiltrator in the Heaven Dou Empire, but turns against her after discovering the fate of other disciples. Xiao Qi brings Tang San, Tang Fan, and Tang Yuehua into the imperial palace to attack her. Already wounded through their combined efforts, Bibi Dong loses to Tang Yuehua's hammer techniques; she recognizes that her arrogance and decision to fight a berserker head-on contributed to her defeat 142 143.

Qian Renxue carries the dying Bibi Dong to the Far North in search of Ye Han. He treats her with heavenly treasures and exotic medicinal essences, and she recovers after five days. She later accompanies him toward Sea God Island and reluctantly begins reconciling with Bo Saixi, addressing her as “Third Sister” 145 146 153.

Unification and Retirement

Bibi Dong's later ambition is explicitly civic: she wants every city to share the prosperity of Spirit City, with peace, happiness, and freedom from oppression. During the war against Heaven Dou and Star Luo, she remains committed to this vision even as the enemy alliance gains numerous god-level reinforcements 162 175.

At Jialing Pass, she fights the opposing gods and confronts Tang Yuehua again. The conflict moves into outer space, where her undead forces are destroyed and she apparently dies under the gods' combined attack. She reverses time and forcibly returns as a Half-Step God King, helping collapse the enemy's morale. The Spirit Hall Empire unifies the continent, which regains peace within half a year 190 192 195 196 200.

Later, she protects palace dancers from five invading God Kings, killing three directly and using a trapping formation against the remaining two. By Chapter 233, she has already relinquished the throne to Ye Chen more than ten years earlier and lives quietly, cultivating, tending flowers, and occasionally worrying about Ye Han 220 221 233.

Life on the Dou Qi Continent

Bibi Dong reappears at Canaan Academy after absorbing power from the Tuoshe Ancient Emperor's cave abode. Her body has been completely recast: Ye Han recognizes her through her demeanor and aura despite her changed height, hair, and eyes. She rejects his approach, opens a spatial passage, and leaves 467 468 469.

Using the identity Oriental Unbeaten, she rescues Qian Renxue from Soul Emperor and the Dou Saints besieging her. She later reunites with her daughter and shows tenderness toward her disciple Xiao Xun'er, although her feelings about Ye Han remain unresolved 552 553 554 556.

After advancing to Dou Di, she aids the endangered Soul Beast side under the name Oriental Bai. Her immediate killing of two opposing Dou Di experts stabilizes their position, though it does not completely reverse their danger of extinction. She also gives Zhu Zhuqing information about where she last encountered Ye Han 601 615 616.

Appearance

Her appearance changes substantially after she remakes her body on the Dou Qi Continent 468 469.

  • Original stature: A little over 160 centimeters tall, with straight, slender legs and unusually balanced proportions 30.
  • Original coloring: Pale pink hair, purple eyes, fair skin, and delicate facial features 109.
  • Apparent age: Looks approximately twenty-seven or twenty-eight despite being considerably older; time leaves no visible trace on her 164.
  • Papal dress: A gold ceremonial gown set with red, blue, and gold gemstones, paired with the Nine Curves Purple-Gold Crown and a golden scepter 109.
  • Battle appearance: Initially wears black armor amid demonic mist; later appears in purple armor with a noble, sacred aura 123 191.
  • Recast appearance: Nearly 180 centimeters tall, with long black hair, clear black-and-white eyes, and white robes 467 468.

Personality

Bibi Dong maintains a cold, controlled public demeanor and uses fear to enforce obedience. She can be ruthless toward opponents, subordinates, and even family: her subjugation of the offerings and attack on Qian Renxue follow directly from her pursuit of control and cultivation 31 47.

Her confidence repeatedly borders on arrogance. After founding the empire, she dismisses most of her peers and juniors as threats. Her defeat by Tang Yuehua forces her to acknowledge that superior cultivation does not excuse misunderstanding an opponent's fighting style 143 162.

Her imperial ambitions also have a concrete egalitarian purpose. She rejects Yu Xiaogang's contempt for ordinary people, seeks a continent without oppression, and considers her citizens' hopes a responsibility she cannot abandon. Her hatred of powerful people mistreating women is linked explicitly to her own experiences in Slaughter City 140 162 192 220.

Privately, she is more vulnerable than her authority suggests. Ye Han and Qian Renxue can provoke embarrassment, anger, hesitation, and tenderness beneath her composed exterior. She is also an accomplished actor, capable of competing with Ye Han in concealing intentions and controlling a scene 146 164 235 554 601.
