The Incubation Chamber was very quiet. Enya's Eggshell glowed with its usual gentle, warm radiance, yet Gawain merely stared silently at the Golden Giant Egg. It was not until half a minute later that he finally broke the silence. "Seriously, there's still time to call Melita and Noreta back..."
"No, I can handle everything," Enya's voice immediately rang out, firm and unwavering. "Incubating a dragon egg isn't particularly complicated, especially with the automated systems in this room. There's not much I need to do myself, and caring for a hatchling is actually quite simple. They survive and grow far more easily than human infants..."
"But you just said you don't have any practical experience." Gawain looked at this "goddess" with an oddly conflicted expression, as though he were meeting her for the first time. "Are those scraps of theoretical knowledge really enough?"
"Believe me, Melita and Noreta would only be worse off than I am—they can't even be trusted with theoretical knowledge." Enya's voice finally carried greater confidence, and her reasoning was considerably more convincing. "As younger dragons, they have none of the experience or knowledge of the ancient dragons. Everything they know about caring for hatchlings was probably taught by Andar or Heragol. Meanwhile, I personally witnessed more than a million years of dragon history... Though I devoted very little attention to 'caring for hatchlings,' what I accumulated still far exceeds those two young girls."
"Fine, if you're that confident." Gawain's mouth twitched as he realized that this "goddess" was actually rather concerned with saving face. "Then I'll leave it to you. If you need any help, just ask. I'll do whatever I can."
The flowing radiance over Enya's Eggshell gradually settled, and she said softly with a smile, "Thank you very much."
