Amun was leaving—he had cleared the Aberrants wandering the upper levels of the Stellar Sanctuary, temporarily contained the tainted presence spreading near the sanctuary's crash site, and healed some of the guardians still clinging to life along the Forest Sea Defense Line. As a Former God who still needed to remain hidden at this stage, he had already done enough here.
Any more, and he would cross that line, pushing this matter into the realm of a Divine Miracle.
"I will still help you wherever I can," Amun said, turning his head slightly toward Bercetia and Elaine behind him. "The relationship between gods and mortals does not have to follow only the path of miracles and faith. There is still the possibility of fighting side by side within safe limits. Perhaps that is the greatest gain from my reckless act this time..."
As he spoke, he turned to look toward the Gondor Wasteland. The Dark Continent, shrouded beneath filthy clouds, was reflected in his crystal-clear eyes. Only after a long while did he look away and sigh softly. "But the main battlefield ahead will still be the stage of you mortals... I can feel it. The longer I remain active in this world, the more an invisible force tries to bind me here. Even though I have never crossed 'that line' from beginning to end, and have never revealed myself before the world, that force is still beginning to surface... It seems that although the chain upon me has vanished, some trace of my connection to mortals remains."
Bercetia frowned faintly, but quickly understood. With a complicated expression, she said softly, "The lives of the Silver Elves are simply too long... The memories we leave behind in the forest are always difficult to erase..."
