The Dawn of the Mortal World Sky Fortress Battle Group entered the battlefield and began a swift, saturated purification of the Aberrant legion besieging Crimson Jade City. Railgun shells weighing tons poured down like a meteor shower from those enormous anti-gravity fortresses, unleashing a great wave of explosions and shockwaves along Crimson Jade City's northern defenses. The towering, powerfully built "behemoths," once as fearsome as siege chariots, became as fragile as paper before fortress cannon fire on this scale, while the ordinary Aberrants clustered around them were reduced to fragments in an instant.
Yet those fearless monsters did not scatter and collapse after a single barrage like the noble armies of old. Nor did they lack anti-air capabilities—large numbers of specialized monsters swiftly reacted within the Black Tide.
First were the "behemoths" that had survived the initial bombardment. These ranged units, equipped with beam cannons, quickly anchored themselves to the ground with bone spikes. The parallel charging structures on their backs turned toward the sky, and amid the hum of charging energy beams, hundreds upon thousands of dark-red rays surged from the earth toward the enormous, conspicuous floating platforms.
Then came a kind of monster that had never appeared on the northern battlefield. They possessed enormous swollen heads like water bladders, their grotesquely mutated brains expanding, contracting, and writhing within translucent skulls. These creatures clearly possessed the ability to float and wield stronger magic. Rising into the sky through some Anti-Gravity Spell, they waved their proliferating, jointed arms to summon flames and lightning, then flew toward the Dawn of the Mortal World, which appeared too clumsy to evade.
What they faced was the "swarm" carried by the Dawn of the Mortal World.
