Gawain had two vantage points from which to overlook the planet from outer space.

One was the "satellite view" he had brought with him after transmigrating, originating from a geostationary satellite orbiting near the equator. Its view was limited to the Loren Continent and a small area around its shores. The second was the overlooking view from Firmament Station that he had acquired later by "exploiting a loophole" in the permission system—strictly speaking, Firmament Station's systems were in even worse shape than that geostationary satellite's. Due to the same long years of disrepair and Amun's head-first collision three thousand years ago, Firmament Station was now severely damaged. Large sections of the Ring Belt had gone dark, the monitoring system had frozen, and Gawain only had access to the cameras in one section of the Ring Belt.

Yet because of Firmament Station's immense scale and unique monitoring position, he could still see things from its perspective that surveillance satellites could not—such as the vast stretch of sea southwest of the Loren Continent.

In space, an inconspicuous light lit up on the enormous orbital station. Along the inner orbit facing the Loren Continent, several monitoring devices slid out from their protective compartments and rapidly moved along their tracks, adjusting focus. Ancient sensor units operated soundlessly in space, gathering data from the planet's surface. On the ground, Gawain's mind was intensely focused. As he slowly adjusted the ground-monitoring apparatus on the station's inner ring, countless theories and thoughts surged through his mind—his mental storm continued until the image in his head gradually cleared, and the Winter's Wrath and other capital ships appeared near the base of the Orbital Elevator at the edge of his view.

Gawain froze for a moment and "rubbed his eyes" in his consciousness. The optical sensors on Firmament Station
