The first ray of morning sunlight crossed the Mountain Barrier in the east, casting a faint golden glow over the rolling peaks. The howling wind high above swept across the faintly glowing shield over the Aerial Fortress, and after being filtered and guided through several layers of barriers, the frigid upper-air current became a pleasant breeze. The Imperial Flag hanging above the control center swayed in the wind, its Sword and Plow emblem traced in pale golden thread rising and falling with the airflow—Rebecca stopped on the main thoroughfare of the upper deck, looking up as the superstructure of the Dawn of the Mortal World gradually took on a metallic sheen in the morning light. A foolish grin slowly spread across her face.
She had grown accustomed to life aboard this Aerial Fortress, and lately, she had come to enjoy greeting the sunrise from the upper deck of the Dawn of the Mortal World more and more.
"Good morning, Creator," the fortress Main Brain's voice came from a low-power speaker nearby. The Dawn of the Mortal World had detected Rebecca's location and greeted her on its own initiative. "The sun looks nice today."
"Good morning. It really is nice weather today," Rebecca said with a smile, waving at a surveillance device some distance away. Her expression was so cheerful it practically glowed. "Feels like a good day to throw something artistic at the wasteland—"
"As you say, today is a fine day to depart," the Dawn of the Mortal World replied in a calm, gentle voice. A rising hum came from deep within the anti-gravity warship as it warmed up its twenty-two auxiliary propulsion engines. "Would you like me to arrange rail transport to Industrial Deck Two? The nearest tube entrance is fifty meters to your left."
"Sure." Rebecca nodded
