Gawain kept a distant watch over the Orbital Elevator in the southwestern seas of the Loren Continent and the surrounding waters. Through the countless sensors and optical devices mounted outside the elevator, he could clearly observe every move of the vast joint engineering team. He could also control the elevator's operation at any time and monitor the entire space-to-ground transit system.

Originally, he could not have achieved such comprehensive perception and control. All of this was the result of Cassandra and Asalina's accidental "restart" last time.

The corresponding compartments aboard Firmament Station had been prepared for the subsequent repair work. Restrictions had been lifted from every accessible area, and the Orbital Elevator had been classified as a temporarily high-priority unit. On the planet's surface, atop the "steel island," Ironclad Soldiers, sirens, and dragons were busily at work. The ground supply station was gradually taking shape, while a small Vanguard Team entered the Orbital Elevator's Assembly Hall.

Leading this team was a familiar face... a familiar figure... a familiar ball.

Restoring Firmament Station would be a project of critical importance. Although Gawain believed that the sirens, dragons, and Ironclad Soldiers would all give this task their utmost effort, they were, after all, three entirely different races using vastly different technologies. These differences might prove unexpectedly useful when facing Firmament Station's complex and unknown conditions, but they also made coordinating and commanding the entire project a tremendous problem.

They needed a trustworthy acquaintance to coordinate this engineering team composed of three different races—someone whose background was well understood, who possessed outstanding engineering skills, experience and ability in leading such a complex team through technical challenges, and, most importantly, someone who could pass the Orbital Elevator's "qualification certification" and was capable of entering space.

Saint Nicholas Egg-Master—he was the most suitable ball candidate
