In the vastness of space, an orange-yellow star burned fiercely like an eternal furnace of flame. Boundless seas of fire surged across the blazing sun's surface, while immense streams of flame erupted from them, forming spectacular pillars of fire in the void before falling back toward the star under its immense gravity. Powerful jets of high-energy particles and endless magic power continuously sprang forth from those flames, gushing wantonly into the infinite depths of space in every direction.
At the edge of the heat waves cast off by that blazing star, several dust-speck-sized spacecraft struggled to maintain their flight paths.
These craft had triangular main bodies, and enormous thermal shields had been installed on the sides facing the star. The golden heat-insulation shields endured the star's scorching heat at close range. Despite their specialized design, some of the structures around their edges had begun to warp and show signs of vaporization. Protected by the thermal shields, the triangular craft kept their thrusters running at full power to maintain their attitude while using multiple sensors to watch the space dozens of kilometers away.
Several dozen kilometers from the formation, a dazzling golden stream of flame was racing toward the sea of fire on the star's surface.
If placed on the ground, that golden stream of flame would likely have rivaled a castle in size. Yet compared to the colossal star, it was as tiny as a mote of dust. At the same time, battered by the star's intense heat waves and dragged by its gravity, the flaming stream had begun to twist and tear apart. Debris and rings of light constantly burst from around it, as though it might disintegrate at any second. Even so, it continued onward with unstoppable momentum, lunging toward that burning celestial body of terrifying power.
