Winter had ended.

Deep within Pinnacle Base, a Magic Net Terminal was running in a room with tightly shut doors and windows.

The room was empty. Thick curtains blocked the already dim daylight, leaving the entire space strangely dark. The Magic Net Terminal's white-noise projection was like an insufficiently bright lamp, casting hazy shadows across the furniture and objects.

On the room's only wooden table, a Printing Press connected to the Magic Net Terminal rattled and creaked as it operated. Sheets of white paper were fed into the machine, where information from afar was printed onto them and delivered to the output tray.

A small stack of printed materials had already accumulated at the front of the machine.

Suddenly, the documents on the table floated into the air, as if lifted by invisible hands, and the pages began rustling as they flipped.

A moment later, the documents were placed back on the table. The automatically running Magic Net Terminal gradually quieted as well. A faint breeze drifted through the empty room, making the curtains nearby tremble. With a slight brightening of the room, everything returned to silence.

At the center of the base, Gawain was reviewing technical data sent by the Elf Archmage Banner. With the construction schedule shortened, the subsidiary tower and related facilities handled by the Duchy of Cecil were about to be completed ahead of schedule. The subsidiary tower was currently undergoing the final installation and calibration of its Magical Devices, and several purification nodes were more than halfway complete. To ensure this vital project could be wrapped up smoothly, Gawain did not dare relax in the slightest.
