Count Duller stood within his family estate, on a third-floor balcony, looking through the broad crystal glass windows at the fog-shrouded street outside. The fog had thinned somewhat today, allowing him to make out the scene across the road—the spire and portico of St. Yolem God of War Church stood in the mist, yet on this day normally meant for worship, not a single commoner passed by or lingered before the church.

Even the boldest commoners remained dozens of meters from the church doors, watching the events on the street with timid, frightened expressions.

A company-sized force of Obsidian Imperial Guard and a large number of Rangers Battle Mages in black robes had gathered before the church.
