When Yuland fled with the remaining Elf Troops, what had originally been an encounter battle naturally turned into a pursuit.
Driven by his greed for souls, Serlun naturally had no intention of letting any enemy escape. However, this was still within elven territory, and Yuland was far more familiar with the terrain than Serlun. Once he led his surviving troops into the forest, Serlun quickly lost all trace of him.
Druids were worshippers and guardians of nature. They protected the natural world, and nature in turn aided them. Thus, the moment Yuland entered the forest, the entire forest helped conceal his tracks. Great leafy trees rustled as they shook down their leaves, and the fluttering foliage filling the sky blocked visibility. Grass ran wild across the ground, covering the Elf Troops' footprints, while thorny brambles spread out and sealed every woodland path, refusing to let the demons pass.
Under such circumstances, the Elf Troops escaped successfully, while Serlun roared in fury.
In his rage, he set the forest ablaze, but not only did it accomplish nothing, it also blocked the Demon Army's path forward. Demons did not fear fire, but that did not mean they could not be harmed by it. In the end, Serlun could only awkwardly lead the pursuing troops back.
The demon army needed time to recuperate as well. Until the forest fire died out, they could not advance, so they could only clean up the battlefield first.
The Elf Troops had suffered heavy casualties, but the demons had not fared much better. A considerable number of demons had likewise been killed and banished. If Serlun had not suppressed Yuland with magic, the consequences of this encounter battle would truly have been hard to predict.
Serlun ultimately obtained more than six hundred souls. In truth, however, Roy
