The energy readings soaring from the temple at the center of the alien city had already broken through the ceiling, yet showed no sign of stopping. A massive stone door several meters thick sealed the entrance, barring anyone who wanted to enter.
But Michael did not particularly need a door to get in or out of a room.
He cast a spell—a Piercing Spell. In physical and scientific terms, it involved channeling energy drawn from the multiverse into his body in a specific manner, briefly producing a phase-shifting effect. It was a relatively advanced spell. By altering their own phase, a mage could render their body intangible and pass through solid objects, achieving feats such as walking through walls or sinking into the ground.
Michael phase-shifted himself along with his armor and passed straight through the heavy stone wall into the temple.
The damage inside seemed even more severe than outside. By the time Michael drifted in, the floor was already covered in a thick layer of lime dust and rubble, while chunks of stone still poured down from the dome like rain. A beam of golden light shone down at the center of the room, like a stage spotlight illuminating the pillar-like platform standing there.
Dense mist filled the entire space. White fog mingled with drifting dust, and crystalline particles flickered and danced within it. The armor's radiation monitor sounded the instant Michael entered, its warning icon flashing on and off in the corner of his vision.
Terrigen Mist, released by the crystal hidden inside the Obelisk, could activate the dormant Inhuman gene and trigger latent superpowers.
