Ch. 1101Fall of Destiny
Key events
- The Creation Star Domain lies deserted because the Lord of Destiny had moved his Creation World elsewhere. He had built it as an attempt to follow Pantian’s example of creating a separate world, but lacked the primordial source that had powered Pantian’s success.
- The Lord of Destiny, fearing the Evil Spirit King’s strength and awaiting the outcome of the battle in the Endless Yao Domain, resigns himself to the possibility that he will die in the place he spent ages cultivating.
- Li Xinghe appears and reveals a vast gap in strength: the Lord of Destiny cannot even sense his arrival. Li says he has come to kill him for the needless disasters he caused in pursuit of selfish ambitions.
- Di Wujiang arrives, followed by Daoist Shichen and the Ancestor of Space. The Lord of Destiny insults them and blames Di Wujiang for concealing his strength and holding him back.
- Li Xinghe seizes control of the Wheel of Destiny without a supreme treasure, severing the Lord’s connection to it. He then leaves the weakened Lord to Di Wujiang, who kills him with the World-Ending Millstone.
Character developments and interactions
- The Lord of Destiny remains defiant to the end. Rather than acknowledge his responsibility, he argues that Di Wujiang’s secrecy prevented him from reaching his potential. His defeat strips him of the Wheel of Destiny and ends his life.
- Li Xinghe demonstrates overwhelming power and a clear moral motive: he wants the Lord punished for repeatedly sacrificing countless lives for personal gain. He takes the Wheel but lets Di Wujiang deliver the final blow.
- Di Wujiang confronts the consequences of having raised and left his disciple unchecked. He accepts some responsibility for the calamities, then personally executes the Lord.
- Shichen and the Ancestor of Space back Li Xinghe and Di Wujiang, mocking the Lord’s arrogance and rejecting his claim that they are unworthy.
Significant themes
- Accountability: The Lord’s self-serving actions bring ruin, and his attempt to shift blame cannot save him.
- Power and fate: The Lord invokes “the victor is king,” but the scene shows that neither destiny nor a supreme treasure can overcome overwhelming strength.
- Mentorship and responsibility: Di Wujiang recognizes that failing to restrain his disciple helped lead to the world’s disasters.
- Consequences of ambition: The Lord’s pursuit of transcendence and power leaves the world devastated and ultimately brings about his own destruction.
