Since some people believed the universe was a vast dark forest, they could only follow the law of the jungle. The strong grew stronger; the weak perished. Every civilization was a hunter, and any civilization that exposed itself would swiftly vanish. But that was not necessarily true. If two hunters really encountered each other, they would instead keep the peace, because both carried guns.
The forest was so large, and there was so much prey. No one would choose to fight to the death at the first opportunity. The ones that truly vanished quickly were only those civilizations that put down their own guns and turned themselves into sheep.
"The Broker should be somewhere around here." Just as Evenson was lost in thought, Gamora, walking ahead, suddenly stopped and turned around. "I'll check this side. You check the other."
"Work, work." Evenson nodded and headed in another direction with Alfhil. But just after Gamora quickly slipped into the crowd, Evenson immediately turned onto an overpass. Though he was still not heading in the same direction as Gamora, the high ground gave him a clear view of her movements.
Evenson's intentions were obvious. Alfhil asked, "You think she deceived us?"
Evenson smiled. "The Broker isn't a wandering peddler. Why would we need to search the entire street for him? If she can't even figure out his address, then with intelligence work at that level, Ronan ought to kill his tracker as a sacrifice to heaven!"
"Then what is she trying to do?" Alfhil narrowed her eyes and looked down from the overpass at Gamora's retreating back. "Did she deliberately send us away because she wants to obtain the Power Stone alone and claim credit before Ronan? Or does her father want to bypass Ronan and seize that treasure directly?"
