The story took place in Kyln Prison, a high-security facility of the Nova Corps. The warden summoned guards from every sector to stay alert, because Star-Lord Peter Quill was about to break out!
Of course he knew. Kyln was a maximum-security prison, holding only the most vicious and dangerous felons. Internal surveillance could not be relaxed for even a moment. If poor oversight led to a prison riot, being disciplined and prosecuted by the government would be the least of it. Getting killed by inmates during a breakout was entirely possible.
How could he possibly relax over something that concerned his life? His current laid-back appearance was nothing more than an illusion he had created!
That was entirely because orders had come from above: reduce surveillance as much as possible and create the illusion of weak defenses. Aside from that Asgardian woman, if Gamora and the others wanted to escape, let them. The guards only needed to put up a token resistance and keep the other inmates under control.
