Life imprisonment meant spending the rest of their lives in a cramped space, day after day, year after year, until they rotted away there. It was an exceptionally cruel fate, and Quill's group certainly would not accept it willingly.
So, after they were thrown into a sealed circular room and saw no one around, Rocket, the master escape artist, began discussing his new prison-break plan.
"After we get into prison, we'll behave ourselves for a while and familiarize ourselves with the place. We'll also let them lower their guard, then we'll find a way to escape."
"Sounds great. We're counting on you, then." Quill sat cross-legged on the floor across from Rocket and asked eagerly, "So what's the first step? I hope it isn't making me spend a fortune on a fake leg I'll never use."
"I think the first step should be not discussing this in a place like this!" Gamora sat cross-legged nearby, looking at them with utter disdain. Were they serious? This was probably a holding room before being sent to prison. Who knew how many surveillance systems were installed here, yet they were openly discussing an escape plan? Did they even want to get out?!
As soon as Gamora finished speaking, the lights in the room suddenly turned dark red with a snap.
"Oh, shit!" Everyone leaped up from the floor. No matter how optimistic they looked on the surface, they were all extremely nervous inside. They certainly would not assume this change in lighting was because a fuse had blown and the room had switched to emergency illumination.
