Facing Thanos's probing gaze as he demanded an answer, Evenson remained completely calm. "My reason for refusing is not that I oppose you personally, nor that I oppose your methods."
This left Thanos somewhat confused. "You do not oppose me personally, nor my methods. Then what do you oppose?"
"The timing." Evenson answered plainly. "I acknowledge the necessity of your method, but I believe it should be a final resort, used only when there is no other choice. Doing it now seems poorly timed!"
"You say the universe's crisis is already imminent, but all of this is merely your assumption. Calling it a fantasy would not be an exaggeration. And over that, you want to make a move affecting the entire universe. Do you not think that is too reckless?"
"You think I am lying!" Thanos grew angry. This was the first time he had felt anger since meeting Evenson.
Evenson immediately displayed an overwhelming desire to survive. "I do not think this is a lie in the slightest. I believe a noble man such as yourself would neither lie nor deign to lie!"
Only then did Thanos's anger lessen somewhat. "Then why?"
"The tragedy of Titan, as well as the suffering you have witnessed on other planets—I have not experienced them myself, but I believe they truly happened," Evenson replied. "But compared to the vast universe, those are merely isolated cases, are they not? The disasters they faced have not spread throughout the entire universe."
"So they should simply be ignored?" Thanos said sorrowfully. "Titan ignored it back then. And what was the result? The people starved to death! Should I not learn from such a bloody lesson?"
"Of course we should learn from that lesson, and we should act proactively as well." Evenson spoke tactfully. "But haste makes
